The approve or deny button..what is required?

Does one's comment need to be approved before it can be seen? Or can it be seen until it is denying by the author? This is kind of like the "why ask a question and delete the answer?" question.  I'm asking because the SAME person has deleted my comments on several of his hubs where he is writing as an authority on a subject he knows very little about (on examination of several of his hubs on the same topic) where I was being polite.
I will have to laugh if he has - as it says more about him than it does about me.

If you know so much about the subject where your comments are being deleted, then I think your best form of defence is attack. Meaning if you think this person is wrong with the information in their hub, then write a hub on the subject explaining what you believe to be correct.

I do have hubs on these topics. I politely stated that one should not write topics as an authority if one is not part of the community he is writing misinformation about as fact. Didn't like it I guess!

Yes, if you cannot see your comments then they have either been deleted or not approved yet. I believe you are right, your comments are being deleted.

jlpark, I think from what we've read here that we can't really make a call on the character of either of you.

Casmiro.... Who are we to make that judgment? Not I.

JT and Casmiro - u both have a point. You don't know enough of either of us. But to name him would be juvenile. So I'll just smile

I think they have to be following you first to have your comments automatically approved.

Respectively, the author has to approve all comments.

Absolutely agree that a better course would be to write your own hubs on the topic(s). For one thing, your points are diluted by putting them in the comments, which not everyone reads. Another course of action might be to send direct messages to the author.

I know that technically, the comments can not be seen until the author approves or denies them. But, one time, when I (the author) went to go approve/deny comments, there had already been a string of communication between a couple of readers before I even got there. How could they have been communicating like that unless I hit the "approve" button?

Aside from what I just shared, the system is supposed to work in a manner that if you go to a hub and don't see your comment, then it has either been deleted or not attended to yet.

Yes, the author has to approve the comments before they are release to the public to read. If someone deleted your comments, obviously, you couldn't see them in his hubs and positively, he doesn't agree to your comments either. Since he can't block you, he deleted them. I do agree that writing your own hubs with the right concepts is a great way to prove that your comments are right.
