   Do you enjoy reading Flash Fiction?
   
   Flash Fiction is defined first as a work of fiction under 1000 words.  Second it is not a vignette, but must be a complete story containing a strong plot and a distinct beginning and ending.  Is this type of fiction satisfying to you as a reader?

   Yes.  As an entrant to billybuc's contest, I have to say that don't I?!  I think it demands more skill to get a really good story into 1000 words.  I love trying to get it right and I love reading others' efforts.  A quick read is satisfying and if the piece is expertly written then it's even more satisfying to read.  I'll keep trying to attain a higher standard.
   Reading FF can also give you ideas for all sorts of writing; developing it for a novel, going off at a tangent for another story and, of course, inspiring you to read more.
   Great question.

   You ought to know by now that I love flash fiction, short stories and any other type of story. Any well written story is wonderful. I will read it.

      I certainly do know that about you, Becky.  You have been a faithful reader of mine since I started writing fiction.  I still can't believe you waded through 26000 words of my first story.  Thanks for your friendship.

   Certainly on HP I would much rather read FF unless it is written in chapters at least a week apart. Anyone publishing 3 or 4 chapters a week I just wouldn't have the time to follow the story.

      Hi Rosemary, I made that mistake early on when I started writing short stories and flash fiction.  I was posting things daily.  It isn't fair to readers who really would like to follow a story.  Thanks for the input.

   Let me be frank, there is a difference between an educational subject like science or history and the emotions invested in a long fiction write. The latter requires more time to fully appreciate, generally. And with all we read on Hubs or elsewhere for that matter, and the time involved, it's great to have flash fiction where the enjoyable investment with all the stories components can be taken in with a thousand words or less. So yes, I do enjoy flash fiction, and the longer fiction stories when time allows.

      Alastar, I appreciate your viewpoint.  I agree that each type of literature has its place.  I am very happy that flash fiction is finding its own place as well.
