If it didn't there wouldn't be things like eBay and Craigs list and ... yard sales.

Since this question is listed under "gender relations" I assume you are applying this analogy to people. Anyone who has ever been "dumped" and later found a lasting love with someone (new) is living proof!
Whatever it was you didn't like about your ex or they did not like about you could be the very thing which causes another person to fall deeply in love. Most of us have dated or been involved with more than one person. Therefore the majority of people have been thrown into the "relationship recycle bin" at least once. :-)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and one person's "booty call" is another person's (mate for life). Essentially there is someone for everyone it's just a matter of bringing those two people together.

right on... but different views on how this question also can relate to other matters.... it can also relate to material things... relationships - anything really...  gender relationship - is very interesting.....

This question was listed under the heading "Gender and Relationships Advice and Tips for Men (in Relationships).  It appeared to me this was more about people in past and new relationships. It could relate to anything though, art, music, cars.
