What happens if your cousin is dating a girl you can't stand?

Do you tell him that you don't like her or just stay quite?

He's the one who has to be around her, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah I would think that if my five year old daughter didn't think he was the bees nees. She is always asking to hang out with him but is always mistreated by her. What to do?

I'd say you stay quiet.  There's a good chance the cousin won't date her "forever" anyway; and if he does then he'll either be happy or else she'll become his problem.  Most people aren't looking for, or interested in, the feedback of others when they make some choices.

It's your cousin's choice. You just have to put up with it. That happened a few years ago and the woman he brought to the family gathering was cold, rigid, and just didn't want to be there. A complete opposite from his previous girl. Eventually, he found the woman he married. Hopefully, your cousin will see the mistake they have made in being with that girl.

I just worry about it. She makes my daughter feel unwelcome and she loves my cousin so much. I wish I could tell him how I felt with out it being an issue. Just so he can understand why I don't want to invite her to her birthday party.

Actually if she makes your daughter feel unwelcome it reminds me of one of my father's friend's wives. She doesn't know how to act around those younger than her. We just really try to prepare the kids for being around her. It's difficult.

Ona Canady, Never forget you are entitled to say who is welcome in your home. Your role as parent is to make sure your child feels safe and comfortable in their own home. Tell your cousin the truth but don't expect him to dump his girl. It's his life
