Do we reveal too much with social media?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well I just feel like some people are talking too much. I know proud parents want to show every milestone of their child but when you see 100 pictures of Junior bobbing his head up and down it can be annoying. Then we have our young people with the popular self pics in the bathroom or the duck face photos. And ladies can we leave something to the imagination?

I say the exact same thing yet I too at times have posted too much garbage. The main gripe I have with social media is that people are constantly airing out theirs or others dirty laundry. I really don't need to know that you and your boyfriend are fighting about who took the last soda or why you hate your boss. I mean we all have everyday issues in our lives that well are in fact mundane so why do I need to hear about yours. Also especially on FB Group invites/likes, invites to games (now that I think of it invites to pretty much everything from everyone) and status updates (we get it you go to work everyday and you eat lunch at the same time everyday...etc...). At this point I am just rambling on but I guess this is my soapbox for the day and now i'm going to go post on FB how I just answered a question on Hubpages. Lol j/k

Needed that today! Ha! Agree with you on the excessive posts on everyday tasks.  I definitely don't care when people check in to work, mcDonalds or a gas station.

I used to like the games. I don't play them.
You are right it's a big soap box for every thing. It bothers me to see babies who are sick put up on FB that is exploitation.

The one thing I really can't wrap my head around is the way people post exactly where they are at that exact minute...  maybe being married to a law enforcement officer has jaded me somewhat, but HELLO.  People "befriend" other people on these media websites that they don't know personally.  So, do you really want a "friend of a friend of a friend" knowing that you're on vacation for two weeks.  Why don't they just put a sign in front of their house saying "I'm away, come in and take what you want."  Yikes!!

I need to just care about where I am.
Most people I know are getting into trouble. No thanks

I honestly do not understand the social media addiction. I have a Facebook page that is filled with stuff I did not put there, request or invite. I have never posted anything about where I was going or what I was doing. I use Facebook to find a few old friends, and I communicate with them through the private e-mail. I probably expose more about myself, in trying to explain how I know something or why I am taking a certain position, here on Hub Pages than anywhere else in the "social media world." By the way, I am home and about to turn in for the night. Had barbequed chicken for dinner, clean the kitchen, took out the garbage and watch some television. That is probably too much excitement for most people, so I guess I had better stopped and keep you wondering what comes next.

I try not to say much.
No one needs to know every detail of my life.
I only post good news but even that gets some mad.
    Well I'm sorry about that.
I'd never post surgical scars or that my kid is dying and what am I going to do about it.
Last year I had a major medical emergency. I didn't tell anyone. It was a hard time for me and I didn't have time to tell people I was going to have brain surgery.
And this other stuff I get. I don't put it on my page.
It seems like a global clique. You're either in or out.
