Do you like the idea of a dislike button in social networks, i.e, Facebook?

or you rather not comment on posts you don't like?

Great idea, just wonder if there would be people brave enough to use it!

I think it would be very useful to be able to show disapproval for matters that need disapproving, whatever those might be is strictly up to the person with their finger on the disapproval button.  We all like being able to have an outlet for our opinions, hence the age of social media, so why should it all be one sided?  I think people on social media are capable of handling the power of a dislike button.  After all if you dislike what someone else disliked than you can always just click dislike and move along.

It doesn't have to be used negatively, but I am sure some people would.  I dislike that...do you have a button somewhere on here for that?  Oh, but of course there is....it's the "vote down" button.  See, we already are handling this kind of power just fine.

By the way, I have never used the vote down button.  Normally if something is not my favorite, I simply look for the positive and comment on whatever is good.  Why harp on the negative?

I think it could be useful, but I also think that too many people would abuse it. It's definitely an easy way to say if you agree or disagree with something without actually having to type it out haha

Dislike button followed by minimum 20 words to describe - Why dislike - is welcome.
It can be other way round too. If one gets say 12 like then all others may not have liked.

I like the way Amazon handles this. They have text under their product reviews that says something along the lines of:

Did you find this helpful?  Yes   No

People viewing the page don't know who clicked what, but the reviews that are found to be most helpful rise to the top. It's kind of like the thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons on HubPages.

Amazon also sends an e-mail to the review writer when someone clicks one of the buttons under their review, stating something like "someone used your review to make a purchase decision on Amazon."

That system discourages some people with bad intent from participating, because they don't get the immediate thrill of having their negative vote recorded publicly.
