Should a husband always defend his wife against his mother even when the wife is in the wrong?
A tricky question to be sure. Diffusing the situation would be the husbands goal,
very hard to answer questions like this as its an argument between two loved ones.
I would probably pull my wife to the side and tell her,
My Dear , you are in the wrong, please stop arguing.
After which I would put on my crash helmet and wait for the fallout
Yes.........................................................................
For the most part a husband should take the side of his wife. However if the wife is really in the wrong he should be able to communicate with her. In an ideal world a woman would never put her husband in a position to have to pick sides.
No. Honesty is more important than loyalty in my opinion. A man or woman should be able to tell their spouse when they are in the wrong. Honesty is the foundation for all meaningful relationships.
A husband should try to keep both his wife and his mother happy; his life could be miserable if he doesn't master that skill. With that being said, a man's wife becomes his new family and he should stand by her, support her and defend her. The bottom line is that he should not allow either his mother or wife to be disrespectful of the other.
When a man marries, his wife becomes his priority. In the face of a conflict, he needs to back his wife up. However, if she is in the wrong, they can discuss it later out of fray and let her know he thinks she is wrong.
But a man and woman must stand united in front of all family, children etc.
Not always, no. That would cause him to try to make his wife happy instead of making a wise decision. He wouldn't care about what is best, he would just be passive to his wife. Why would anyone want a passive husband? He should be able to make good decisions, even if his wife is wrong. However, I've never been in this situation.
Under no circumstance should he disrespect his mother and his wife should not disrespect her either. After all she would want respect from him and from their children. Whose right or wrong should not matter. Adults can learn to get along.

When is a hug more than a hug between a man and a woman who is NOT his wife?If a man hugs a woman in front of his wife, where is the line that it has gone too far? The "hug" is fine. Does it cross the line with a kiss on the cheek? A kiss on the neck? Prolonged hugging?...
