   How big a role does "Summary of a hub" plays to get higher rank on Google?
   
   I read in a hub of fellow hubber that summary is very important for getting high rank on Google. How? & how long it should be?

   I don't know how much of a role it plays as far as ranking with Google, but I can tell you that I'm sure it weighs fairly high within HubPages and their ranking system. When you do not have a summary, HP actually marks it as something missing. Also, that summary is an opportunity to have more keywords about your Hub that Google will be picking up on. I don't think it should be a story in itself, but short and sweet and to the point. When in doubt, don't leave it out.

   I do not think that the person who wrote that hub knows that for certain, as Google is a mystery to all of us. I can only tell you my personal experience. It does help. When someone types in a search question into the google search engine, if you have words similar to their question I think you are going to be ranked higher.
   I have to give an example to be clear. If I have a title "Five Little Dog Breeds That Do Not Bark Much" I will use the word small, little, bark, dog, best, pictures, video, and description in my summary.Those words will be highlighted when someone searches and the hub is more likely to be read.
   As far as length, I think the number of characters is limited when you write it. Try to be as brief as possible but use the words that are important.

   the Summary of your hub plays a very important role for two reasons. It is a place to add keywords which are what the googlebot looks for when indexing your hub, and it allows readers to see s snippet of your hub before they click on a link.  So If you are searching for something in google search, and you have a choice between two links that have similar titles, but one has a summary that indicates its content and the other does not... which do you choose? The summary is very important.

   The summary of your Hub serves as the metal description, and will usually be shown under your Hub title in search results.  You should use your keywords in your summary, but also make it friendly to human readers.  A well-written summary tells search engines what you Hub is about (and helps it to rank better) and encourages humans to click on your title.  Of course search engines have a bunch of other ways of knowing what your hub is about, but your summary is still pretty important and should not be left blank.
   
   Google will show up to about 160 characters (so don't make it longer than that), but I like to keep mine around 140 to make sure the full sentences show up.

   i do make it a habit to write summary of the hub using the main keywords in short sentences.
