   Would you resort to doing something drastic to keep a husband or wife?
   
   I'm watching a movie called Serious Moonlight and I wondered if anyone out there would resort to something like this. The woman in the movie finds out that her husband of 13+ years has not only decided to divorce her but is taking off with his twenty something girlfriend and she decides to take drastic measures to try and keep him. She breaks a flowerpot on his head and ties him up to keep him there and convince him that he still loves her and doesn't want a divorce.

   You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink. (an old southern saying) The choice is still theirs. They have free will. No matter what you do, including hitting them over the head with a flower pot, and duct taping them.
   Eventually you have to untie them, and let them go, if they so choose. We all have choices, and those choices always have a consequence.

   I don't think you can "keep" anyone. If they have given up on the marriage and are moving on then the best you could do is delay perhaps but there would be very little you could do to actually make them stay. In the end would you really want someone to stay, with you, only because you are somehow "making" them?

      I agree. It just piqued my interest. I know that people sometimes don't want to let go of what's familiar or face when something is really over especially a marriage.

   Whenever I hear stories like this where one person insists on trying win someone over or get them to marry them I always ask:
   "Why do you want to be with someone who does not want to be with you?"
   There are over 7 billion on the planet! Surly they can find someone that sees them as being "the one". If someone doesn't want to be with you that should be a (clue) that they are NOT your "soul mate".
   One man's opinion! :-)

   I love my husband of 42 years dearly. He's my best friend. While it wouldn't be easy to go on without him, I have to say I don't want him, if he doesn't want me.  He can wave at my backside as I am going out the door.

      42 years, Wow that is great!! I doubt he would wave at your backside after that long of being together. What's your secret???
