How can we promote our mental/emotional well-being in these stressful times?
Share a few tips on the steps you are taking to ensure you maintain your mental/emotional health.
I have learned basically to take out time every day to meditate, or read uplifting words like positive quotes, bible, inspirational books, inspirational music, or videos. You really have to take care of your mind.
For instance, I've even ignored the news for the last four years and started watching it when this bombing happen last week. It's really what you're focused on, and how does it make you feel? I can say I don't miss watching the news. It's focused on all the violence in the world, and certainly didn't like how I've been feeling the last few days after watching. So the thing is if one event affected me or caused some stress, how many other events do we watch on T.V. or shows that affect us on a daily basis? I don't watch T.V. most of the time.
I think I've learned this what ever you're putting in your mind, or witnessing does have a lot to do with how you feel about yourself, the world we live in, and those that are around us. What ever you're witnessing or experiencing causes stress in a good or bad way. While you can't avoid people entirely in your life, or co-workers you can limit amount of time you are around them if they are causing stress in abusive way.
I think it makes sense that if something is causing stress, and we can avoid it without major disruptions in our lives, then it's a decision we might have to take.
We can really not deny the fact that the present time is getting stressful and stressful each day... However, no matter how stressful life can be, we have to see to it that we maintain mental and emotional soundness. I may suggest things like doing some unwinding stuffs such as going to a picnic or playing your favorite sports... However, if in case you have very limited leisure time, you may just try to de-stress once in a while by simply doing regular exercises, eating healthy food, listening to soothing music, taking a warm bath at night and of course, as much as possible avoid things that can stress you out more....
Yes, we need activities that will take our minds off the stressful situations, and of course this means finding balance in our lives.
By educating others how to remain in good health mentally and emotionally. I constantly read emotional intelligence books to help reduce stress and control my emotions. It seems to be helping a great deal. Mentally, I do some puzzles, read, Lumocity, play the piano, just keep up on tasks that help me think. Even card games help. Just look at the research done with Alzheimer patients, just playing games on a daily basis helps them.
