   Do you think electronics,  especially hand-held games, will have a positive effect on children?
   
   My grandboys constantly play on their Kindle Fire, iTouch, etc.  My daughter limits them, but they
   still spend a lot of time using them.  I wonder how it will affect them in the future.

   That is a yes and no question. I do not have kids but my sister does the same thing with her son and hes only 2. It does teach them how to handle electronics and helps them learn about things  but dont let them get too attached. I have seen a commercial about the kindle where you can set a time limit when they are playing games or watching videos. Make them play for a while. Kids might become lazy in the future.

      Thanks for your answer.  I think that it's good and bad also.  The thing that bothers me is how much they want to play, like an addiction.

   Certain games actually help those with ADD and ADHD, along with mentally ill patients and veterans with PTSD. It depends on the games. Also on the Kindle Fire you can control how long children are allowed to play games and give them more time to read books instead.

   Check out Luminosity.com games for example. They develop your brain capacity through play. Is pleasure games included some of these methods games could become even better than school. These kind of mobile electronics are the instruments for universal cheap education that could change the world for ever.

   I think that electronic devices can have positive effect on kids if they are restricted to a specific amount of time.  Parents also need to introduce other things like reading real books but showing their own enthusiasm for them.  Trips to the library or family reading time where everyone gets to read a page or two and do voice and act out the scenes. It can be a lot of fun.
   
   I think the current constant and extended use of electronic devices can have a detrimental effect on our youth.  Living in a virtual world does not teach them about life, how to cope, how to engage people etc.  And it can become addictive.

      Thank you for your answer and my biggest concern of the things you listed is they do not learn how to engage people.   They are scheduled to go to two basketball camps this summer and I think that will be a good experience.  Thanks again.

   Digital Age has truly transformed the early years of our children. Though there are thousands of kids-friendly games and age-appropriate apps, I think we should redirect our children to be more inclined to reading books as this is the best form of learning they can get at such an early age. We should let them play outside with other kids in order for them to build friendships  and companionship. Let them roll on the grass, get dirty sometimes because this is the essence of being young that handheld electronics can never satisfy, to enjoy the simple pleasures of life that we adults have long forgotten.

      I appreciate your answer.  We took the grandkids to a crawfish boil yesterday and they threw the football with an 84 year-old man and
      were outdoors for four hours.  They seemed so much more animated and seemed to be truly enjoyed themselves so much.
