      I also believe wearing make-up is seen by many little girls as a "passage to womanhood" as well. The same goes for wearing high heels, nail polish, lipstick, and pierced earrings. Pre-teen and teenage girls view these things as being an adult woman.

   Because we don't want to scare most people away. Have you seen some women with their make-up? It's extremely frightening. Just a little goes a long way. More is always too much.

      So women, during the non-make up era were scaring other people then? I agree with you though - unprofessionally done and too much of it makes women really look frightening!

      When has there ever been a non-make up era? Even Egyptians with the pyramids wore make up and gave great care about their body scents.

   They must think it makes them look better.  Personally, I have never been big on makeup.  A little bit is fine, but too much just makes a woman look like a painted up clown!  Let people see you, not a painted face!

      I agree....I have heard that most guys prefer a lady without makeup! Ladies did you hear that? ;-) All that makeup may be turning him away, not attracting him to you! Just sayin'........

   To look prettier!  Gosh if I went out 'makeup free' during the day I would feel very pale and sickly looking.

      You lnly look pale because of the layers of warpaint covering the skin on a daily basis, so it can't weather naturally.  You can't beat the bloom of nature.

   I can only answer for myself and I choose to wear makeup because I like it!  It's like art- the face is the canvas and makeup provides the color palette.  Even the ancient Egyptians used the mineral kohl to line their eyes and enhance their looks.  I believe to each his/her own.  If a person doesn't like makeup then they shouldn't feel pressured to wear it, and if  a person does like it they shouldn't be criticized for wearing it.
