I am always looking up dinner recipes to use up random ingredients I have in the fridge/freezer. I find that by mid-week I am all out of inspiration for quick and easy meals, so the internet is my go to.

For me it's cakes - I usually remember some tasty cake I have eaten somewhere - and voilĂ  - the internet tells me how to make it;)

One of the things that I gave up when I went expat was my vast library of cook books & cooking magazines, I probably had over 100 books & decades worth of magazines.
I love to read recipes and somehow it take away some of my apatite. I don't have any favorites as far as deserts vs main dishes and I read about the same number of both. Now I rely on the internet but its not the same as having the real thing in your hands.
One of the hardest things to adapting to expat life is that so many ingredients that we call standard and are so used to being able to get just don't exist in foreign countries, especially 3rd world countries. But part of the fun is learning the local cuisine and how to use the local ingredients.

Very true, some things accessible and so easy to get are not always available in different areas of the world. Some ingredients are not even known of. Tasting/learning cuisine of the area is the fun part though wink

I find myself looking up dessert recipes, especially cakes, since measurements must be exact. We recently moved to a little town with an altitude of 2800 m (9000 feet), so making cakes is a challenge. I need to make adjustments and even then, my cakes sometimes explode!
I am an expat (like Borsia) and as a whole, have learned not to follow recipes since we don't have all the ingredients called for. I experiment a lot with substitutions and that's reflected in my food Hubs.

In my youth I lived in the mountains in CA and the altitude is hard to get used to. It really changes things when water boils at such low temperatures.

I am always looking up for easy cook recipes of anything, be it dessert, main meals or cakes. I like to learn how to make cocktails like woo woo and sex on the beach.

Actually I tend to look up more main dish and side dish ideas. I love to cook so I really enjoy trying new recipes I find on here or other cooking sites I am a member to.
