Is it a big achievement for a new hubber to have a hub nominated in the Rising Star Program?

One of my hubs was nominated for the Rising Star Program and was wondering if this was a big achievement, how it will affect mt traffic, and how to promote the hub so that it could win the award.
    Thanks

I'd say that it's a big achievement in itself! And if you're a new hubber that's even more amazing. Congrats!
I think it might result in quite a boost in your traffic.
For promotion, I say use your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, even emails, etc.) plus share it with family and friends. You can also share it to your Hubpages homepage.

Good luck and congrats on your achievement!

Yes, it is a big deal. Congratulations on your nomination. I was thrilled when I received a nomination and won as a new hubber. It is a great motivator, confidence booster, and a warm welcome into the HP community.
In the notification email, it said how to promote your hub. I recall it saying ask your friends to support you. I was a little leery about how to get hubber support, especially because it's not proper etiquette to push your own hubs or post hub links. So the best way is to let people know via the forum that directly addresses the rising star contest (do they still have that?). Or you could casually mention your hub and that you were nominated and let people find their way to your domain to read it. I think you can also do a "status" post on your hubpage feed to let your followers know. I chose to share the news with my family and friends via email with the link to my hub, and asked for their support. I did get some votes from them.

I would say so.  I don't think any of my hubs were nominated.  I would share your hub with followers on twitter and face book and other networking sites.  I believe your traffic will go up.  I don't know what the process it takes to win, whether we vote or the staff votes.

Thank you for your comment, I believe that in order to win readers and hubbers vote for the winner. The hub is nominated on Friday and receives votes until Wednesday. The votes are tallied up and a winner declared.
