That is a large question with a wide array of possible with probable answers Jabelufiroz. Howdy and good question. There are historical studies that attribute much to lunar cycles. Lunacy is one. The word itself gives attribution to those cycles. History documents congruency with centuries ago with fertility and menstruation as folklore and science.
A physician named Jonas studied seeking why so many women became pregnant when facilitating the rhythm method for birth control. Folk lore take unfounded truths farther back to times of blood letting for any with times of lunacy. Speculation and skepticism surround most theories and such.
There was thought the absence of the moon offered more oddities than the full moon. Spirits free to do as they wish and stuff like that. No light equaled no sight according to some ghost tales. From that one could surmise those tales told to children may have festered with witnessing once any of one occurrence of an oddity and then an avalanche occurs with word of mouth stories. That alone may place fear at the root of the lunacy rather than any physiological cause.
Today, the fear propagated since the 1930's is of course Count Dracula and the werewolf walking about with a full moon. Fear again may be the root offering cause to ponder Robert Plutchik's circle of emotions. The polar opposite of fear ↓ terror is anger ↓ rage. Surfacing toward the top of those two are in order apprehension ↔ annoyance.
Emotions are fun to explore, yet are not fun always to be experienced or witnessed. Telling a child to go to the store for a loaf of bread when the moon is full may not offer a great experience. Seeing on TV and hearing older siblings, their friends, and others say over and over there are vampires and werewolves and they are all bad blood sucking raving animals offer consideration. That walk on that sidewalk under the full moon may not be a good experience especially with an imagination running off kilter from stories.
One may say a little apprehensive about that walk at first. Next, annoyance and then the descent toward the others follows. There are studies on the web regarding either the experienced emotions or witnessed emotions. Which choice follows is just that a choice unless conditioning takes over.
Of course the same holds true with the other emotions too. Ecstasy and grief are perpendicular to rage and terror. For us authors it always comes back to who, what, where, when, why, how, and how much.
