I thought everybody was  . Even hearing drilling noises reminds me of the dreaded dentist chair. Got goose bumps just seeing that word above .

Yes. Part of it is a pathology from my mother. She would sit on me because I refused to brush my teeth. Being ADD, I could feel every bristle. It helped me focus on everything near me. But then when older, I hated the dentist. First, my mother's attempted at brushing my teeth made me so I can only lay down with one leg over the other and one hand holding the other wrist tightly. I feel like a mummy. Secondly, dentists love my teeth. Lack of enamel made my teeth easy to harm. Braces scared my teeth, tons of cement is still attached to my teeth, permanent retainers needed to be tightened once a day, etc. Even worse is that drill. The sound of it makes my head feel the vibrations...

no...i can tell you from experience that going to the dentist is A LOT less painful than pulling your own permanent teeth. i have an underlying bone disease i inherited from my mother and her father that makes my teeth loose (deteriorating jaw bone). i cant always get to the dentist so i have pulled 4 bottom front teeth and 2 molars on my own at home. the molars were bad, they crumbled easily and broke off at the gum line. on the second one i finally had to make a way to the dentists to remove the roots, i had already dug out two of the three roots aand could not get hold of the third one. so yes i like dentists more than doing it myself.

Oh, I am terrified of dentists! The fear will not go away and I cannot talk myself out of it no matter how rational I try to be. I have had plenty of dental work done and I know that Novocaine is a wonderful thing. But even though I know there will not be any pain, I still cannot get rid of the fear. Just going for a cleaning is all it takes to send my stress levels through the roof.

No, I'm not afraid to go to the dentist. However it's far from being my favorite pastime. :-)

Terrified, not only the pain I have to endure but also when I see the bill after each appointment!

Yes. It is a fear that developed later in life for no particular reason. But now it takes everything I can muster to go. I have a wonderful dentist and going to his office is like going to a spa. They treat royally. But I still hate it with a passion.

A little bit of anxiety, that will this check up reveal some teeth or gum problem? But other than that, I'm not scared.
Okay, let me be honest. The experience I'm sharing is of 2005... I've not been to the dentist after that. I think I should go for a check up. Not that I've any problems, apart from sensitivity which a normal sensitive toothpaste takes care of, but in my opinion it's good to go and get dental check-up regularly. It's not that I don't take my own opinions seriously, it's just that I couldn't go... all usual excuses smile And when I'll go this time, again, I think I'll be a little anxious about some probable hidden problem... and will cross my fingers hoping for the best. smile
I should also accept that, the day I go with some problem - like tooth-ache, I think I'll be scared big time. big_smile

Not really, I don't like pain but I've never been afraid of it.
