Listen to the SOME; ignore the ALL!

As a believer who's been around several different types of Christians, I am still to this day amazed at one group.  The group that believes that the Bible is to be taken literally in all regards, but these are the same people who believe that 90 percent of the world will be doomed to be tortured in Hell for all eternity, and 10 percent will get to be in Heaven.

    But show them the following verses;

    Romans 11:25 - 26

25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

And so ALL Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

    1 Corinthians 3:13-15

13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

1 Corinthians 15:21-23 (King James Version)

21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22For as in Adam ALL die, even so in Christ shall ALL be made alive.

23But EVERY man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Looking at these passages literally, one would think that God is going to (horror of absolute horrors!) save EVERYONE!

Suddenly, those who love to take the Bible as literal, will change those verses.  They replace ALL with SOME, and EVERY with SOME.

I must admit that a part of me is curious as to why this is.  Why do some (okay, ALOT) of Christians love to replace the word ALL with SOME?

    hypocrisy, denial, idiocy... it's normal
however, add fundamentalism to it and it's a whole new kind of comedy

How could I ever forget that?  Someone should write a comedy centered around this.

I think the forums du jour have been quite offensive to real Christians.  I have the utmost respect for people who are true to their faith, and to themselves.  It is disrespectful, and blasphemous, to use the word of God for one's own agenda.  I just want all the real Christians out there that you are not hated, but respected.

I agree. As much as I dislike Christians who push their own agenda, I appreciate my Christian friends who truly want to help others.

Well Thank you for clarifying that I knew I wasn't the only one who would point that out. ::::smile
