Should Obama  show up at the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address?

I think it's one of the most moving speeches ever in our history.  For those who are ignorant, it starts with "Four Score and Seven Years Ago..."  Please read it, if you haven't before.  It always seems appropriate.  I'm very glad Obama's not going to show up.  They have invited him but he turned it down.  I'm not sure I can stomach his false rhetoric during such a historic commemoration.

He doesn't belong there. He is trying his best to tear apart a country that Lincoln was trying to keep together.

Becky, the presence of Obama would be a lie to Lincoln's words "government of the people. . .by the people. . .for the people. . . shall not perish from the earth".  Obama can't support those words because he's a marxist.

I think that the Gettysburg address was a very significant event in the history of America. I think it would be a shame if the president of the United States did not show up to commemorate the anniversary--especially the 150th!

It says something about Obama that he doesn't think it's worth showing up for it.

He shouldn't but he will. Somehow he compares himself to Lincoln.

Obama would be so lacking in such a comparison.  And I hope he sticks to his decision that he doesn't show up.  I'd rather he play golf and stays away from the event.

Could be his "handlers" want to avoid the stark comparison between Barachio (who's sane?) Obama and one of the greatest presidents in the history of the country Barachio hates. Watch out if they can get Chris Mathews to host the celebration he might still show up! (Don't you just love these questions:-)!

Matthews (ugh!), the event planner should just put him on a do not allow in list.

I don't know, you think Lincoln would want him there?

Poolman, I do think Lincoln would want him there because he holds a lot of respect for Obama's office.

Of course he should be there. At least to honor one of the greatest Presidents of the United States. This is just another "nail" driven into the coffin of his Presidency if he does not.
