Do liberals lie more to achieve their goals?
We now know that Alex Haley's book "Roots" was a hoax. The first half of it was plagiarized and the second half may have been written by someone else. We also now know that the Matthew Shepard case was not about being anti-gay. So do liberals and progressives lie more as a case of the ends justify the means?
YES!!!! All that needs to be said is take a look at our current President. Enough said.
Tough question. They all lie, some are just better at lying than others. I really don't think lying is limited to liberals, there are just more of them these days so it seems like that.
That's true Poolman, but I guess the follow up question is "To what extent?" I think the liberals\ and progressive lies are bigger.
Based on recent history, I would have to agree with you.
I agree with you both, but what do people expect? What if he would have stood at a podium and said, " Gotcha!"? Would we all feel better? It's hard to do, but if we all put ourselves in his position, we'd do the same thing. He is human, don't forget.
I don't expect perfection. What I do expect is some modicum of sincerity. Obama has lied about practically everything of note during his presidency. And no one says anything. Certainly not the dummycrats and more disappointingly not Republicans.
By now, most of us know he might as well have said "Gotcha" as making a feeble attempt at an apology. We have just begun to feel the pain and suffering this so called health care bill will cause. Way to go Obama, your dream has come true.
Well I read an article that really says it right.
Liberals spend much of their time trying to hide what they believe from the public while conservatives are perpetually frustrated by the fact that the American people don't seem to understand what we really believe. Both problems spring from a single source: liberals lie incessantly. That's not to say that there aren't conservative liars or truthful liberals; there are, but for liberals, lying is the rule, not the exception.
There are two reasons why liberals lie much more than conservatives. First off, this is a center-right country and liberal beliefs are much more unpopular than conservative ones. If liberals told the truth about what they believe and want to do, the Democratic Party would practically be wiped out in much of the country.
Additionally, conservatives tend to think liberals are merely stupid or emotional, while liberals tend to view conservatives as evil -- and liberals use that belief to justify lying about conservatives. After all, if you lie about someone who's evil to keep them from doing bad things, couldn't that be considered virtuous? You may disagree with that, but liberal politicians, bloggers, and journalists live by that rule. Any lie told about a conservative, even one that liberals know isn't true, will be uncritically repeated ad nauseum by the Left until the point it becomes politically disadvantageous to do so.
It's no secret liberals lie and love to lie about lying - uncanny that liberals entire playbook is found in the word liberal.

I have always wondered what makes progressives (liberals if you like) different from conservatives. When both are witness to the same events, yet each group has a different take on what is or what should be done. This is a lot like the gold or blue dress controversy of a couple of months ago. Who...
