What is the optimum time one should spend in creating a good hub?
Time taken for writing a hub can vary from person to person and from one hub topic to another. But the input efforts must justify the output. Can you share what should be the target time within which one should create a good hub?
I spend three hours on a hub and try to complete the hub with all standards of HP
Thanks DDE. I must add that with 3 hours / hub you have done very well for yourself - accumulating so many Accolades. Great !
I think it differs from person to person.
I take a little longer time, say 4 to 5 hours. I do take breaks in between. That is to say, I may not complete a hub in one single session but 2 to 3 sessions.
And before hitting the Publish, button, I do try to fulfil all the criteria, that is mentioned in the 'Need some goals.'
It also depends on the topic on which you are writing. Some topics need more research, than others.
I believe that there is always scope for improvement. Therefore I keep on editing my hubs for adding some fresh content or pictures, or change the formatting a little bit, if the hub has reduced page views.
Good question!
Thanks ChitrangadaSharan for sharing your personal style of writing and the statistics relating to time.
Are you happy with the return on of investment of 4 - 5 hours on each hub ?
Frankly, HP is not a site to make lot of money but to polish your writing skills. The community is very supportive and encouraging and I admit I have learnt a lot about Online writing here. The returns is appreciation and a little bit of pocket money
Hi Sundeep,
The research time is the part that varies for me the most. It can take no time for things I am very familar with, through to 20 hours + for topics I have had to figure out from scratch (that often happens when I think of an idea but have no clue how to do it, just that it would make a cool hub).
The writing part for me is split into two distinct sections. The first is the initial draft. That takes 2 - 4 hours depending on the complexity and how long the hub gets.
The second part is the polishing of the first draft and the publishing of the actual hub. Depending on how happy I am with the initial draft, that can take 2 - 4 hours as well.
So all in all, a hub can take 4 hours to 3 days. Am I happy with how long it takes? Yes, for me it is not the destination but the journey that I enjoy. I get a chance to hone my skills and learn new things. And on the way, I make a little pocket money
Great answer Robbie. With so much efforts, planning and systematic working it is but natural that you produce such great hubs. It was a pleasure to visit your hubpage and read some of your hubs. Thanks for your answer.
I generally spend several hours researching for my hubs. The writing is a long process as I do a rough draft and then review it and make a semi final draft on paper than I type my final draft to the site. All in all I can spend up to 6 or 7 hours on a detailed hub.
Hi ! lorddraven2000. It is encouraging that you can do so much in 6 to 7 hours. Producing a good hub in such time speaks very high of your mastery of the subjects you choose to write on. Thanks for sharing.
It varies from person to person.
If I take myself, I would take at least 2-3 hours in preparating an article and about one hour for making it fair including review, correction and page layout.
Great ! I think you are the fastest among all who have answered this question so far. Thanks padmendra. I look forward to reading some of your hubs.

Hi Hubbers,I am curious as to how long you would spend from start to finish on any particular hub, do you set yourself an amount of time to spend on it? Would you spend longer than one day on one hub?tlcs is curious!

When looking for information on a hub topic it is good to make sure that the information is accurate and that you have done your homework because there is nothing worse than reading an article that has false information. This takes the reader away from your site as they feel that it is fictitious...

How much time do you spend on Hub Pages each day?I don't mean on the computer or the Internet, just Hub Pages....reading, writing, whatever.

By a top-quality Hub, I mean one that is more than 1,000 words, contains original or carefully chosen photos from other sources, gets a Hubscore at least into the 80s if not the 90s and is Featured. It may or may not be an Editor's Choice. By hours, I mean research, writing, editing and promoting.

Lately I have no computer and I only go to the library. When I had one at home I found myself online and this was my favorite website. Besides facebook and email, whatever. So, it was easy for me to indulge in everything, forums, reading, writing. But lately I'm glad I have no computer at home, not...
