How to give credit to photos if you are using random photos from google search?
I've stopped using photos from google. I now do a general search for images using 'yahoo' or 'msn' or any other search engine except google, for me 'yahoo search' has proved its worth. I type in a word or two in the search area then click on 'image' on the left and a whole host of images associated with my search words appear in grid format. Once I have chosen the image - I click on it to take me to relevant website, copy the credit to information after ensuring that it is free distribution, save the photo to my pictures, edit as required, upload to my hub and paste the 'url link' info into the url section - adding in any other credit information available (e.g. Clouds by Toni at DeviantArt) in the source section. Then associate it to my hub in the description area using a sentence out of the hub poem or prose (occasionally paraphrased) that fits with the chosen image.
If you do search for images in 'google', click on the image itself - it will take you to a web link address (usually on the right above other images just below the title) that you can use instead of google.com - you do have to check your permissions to use it though and if you are not sure if the image is freely available you will need to contact the owner to request permission and/or pay an amount of money if the owner requires it.
Other places to go for images are http://www.morguefile.com/archive#/?sor … morgueFile and http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images … mages.php.
I have been replacing my google images in all my hubs and ensure that I always give credit to the owner of the photo - occasionally I come across the image that I have already previously used when I used to use google images but this time I am able to give the image the relevant information giving credit to the image without changing the actual photo.
I asked a question about photo's before I started to change all my images and this is the link to that question with some very useful answers. http://lenisands.hubpages.com/question/ … wn-that-is
I hope you find this helpful.
what if I am writing amazon product review like http://jasmeetk.hubpages.com/hub/Top-10 … s-For-2014
I have used amazon images in this hub. How do I give credit for it images?
I am not an expert - total learning curve for me as well but I would use the image url e.g.: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ZHS4fOMhL.jpg citing this in the url section - putting the source as 'Neon Nails by Amazon' or something like that.
ok... I will do in this way. 1 more thing to ask:
It is important to add url as well?
Like I am writing hub on top 10 naail polish colors. 10 urls in 1 hub, can hurt my google ranking?
You need to cite your photo links using whatever means are at your disposal so if the URL link is the only way then those are what you need to use. You have to hope that the quality of your hubs outweighs the possibility of your google rate dropping
ok. possibly image issue is my problem for rejection. I will edit hubs and reapply. Thanks a lot for your suggestions
When you're on Google search, to the right there is a bolt icon; click that and a drop down menu comes and on that you click Advanced Search. It takes you to a new screen; at the bottom there is a field and drop down box with it that says "usage rights". Click the arrow on that box and choose "free to use or share even commercially". Type in your search words in the box at the top of the screen under "find pages with" and with "all these words" next to it. Hit your enter key or the Advanced Search button on the page. Results come up. If you are still on Web Search page, just hit Images. Free to use images come up. If you find images from Wikimedia Commons, you click Use on the Web above the picture, then copy the info from the Attribution box and use that to give credit to the photo author on your Hub. If you get your picture from Flickr or maybe deviantART, most of them are Some Rights Reserved; in which case you give the user name, the name of the site (Flickr or deviantART) and write "Some Rights Reserved" next to all that to show usage rights. Also, you can use Pixabay or Morguefile for some generic pics, and they are mostly public domain, in which case I usually put user name, Pixabay (Morguefile, whichever one I use) and then Public Domain. But you don't have to do that for public domain pics.
can you give an example of how to attribute?
you must be wondering, but what are public domain pics? and there is no need of any attribute for such images?
Here's attribution from Wikimedia Commons: Richard Goldschmidt [CC-BY-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons Here's for Flickr: Gage Skidmore, Flickr Creative Commons. Some Rights Reserved.
can you explain:
CC
BY
3.0
can you explain by adding a link to an image?

I just published a new hub this evening, and got this "style tip" message:"We noticed that you may be using Google Images as the source of one or more images in your Hub. We recommend only using images that are legal use."Excuse me, but the attribution specifically SAYS...

I have been reading older forum posts and doing some research on my own for this question. I know some Hubers have great success with Pinterest so I would love to hear what you are doing that works. Thank you.

Hello, happy new year, thanks in advance for helping me out. I'm new here, and I would like to ask, where do you guys get your photos? Hubpages clearly stated that we need to use original photos? But, I'm not a photographer nor have any budget to purchase photos whatsoever. I'm wondering, what if I...

Is this a bug or am I tying with Briggs for a featured snippet? It seems odd. The picture can be clicked and leads to DenGarden
