What words would YOU use to describe Jesse Jackson without saying the actual name?
Analytical; smart - Jesse Jackson is a "big picture" person. He understands the causes of injustice and has never been able to get his point across to those who can't see below the surface. I was in a staff meeting once with the director of Special Education of the largest school district in Minnesota. As the workshop went on and I listened to the ideas and concepts this director was saying, it occured to me to say in front of the group, "You know, you remind me of Jesse Jackson". He was shocked! "Strange you should say that , Billie. I grew up with Jesse Jackson. We were friends and lived in the same neighborhood." (It's relevant that the director was white because otherwise, I might have picked up on an ethnic familiarity to me. But I didn't. It was the ideas. This director brought about significant changes in our district for the children with special needs. I have always admired people who see beyond what the masses see. I haven't followed Jesse Jackson recently, but again "analytical" and "smart" have always been my impressions of him.
You wouldn't care for the words I'd use to describe Jesse Jackson. Hub Pages might not, either.
A man who started on the path to right certain wrongs but became tainted by those experiences. Now like many leaders of his calling, they can only see the bad, and almost never acknowledge that people have changed. It requires a balanced vision. It's like a cop who constantly fights dangerous criminals every day. After several years, his mind only sees crime unless he clears the past experiences. He lives too much in the past.
