Good question and one I do not have to even think about. What inspires me is my passion for writing that comes from within me -- a need to express, teach, help, support, in hopes that what I write will not only make me grow spiritually, but may help others in some way.

Passion driven instincts!! It's one of the major reasons I've discovered.
      Thank you for sharing. [Smiles]

I get inspired anytime, anywhere and anyhow. There was a poem I wrote about Africa and guess how I got inspired.. I was watering the flower plants of my Garden and there is this Lemon grass that has been nutured with enough manure and watered twice every day for 11 days, yet it got dried up and died. This singular situation alone inspired me to write the poem about Africa (on poetrysoup, not hubpages) and right now, it has been shared in more than 55 pages on different sites.

Several arguments at my place of work has also inspired some of my writing. We were reading some newspapers when one of the rare pages shows an orbituary notification. As we were pouring out our pity, one of us said... "And you can image! She is so beautiful" I pondered for a sec what would prompt such a statement. Does the person mean, death is only for the ugly? This also prompted another article of mine (in wikinut)... So several events, observations, findings and even other articles and write ups do inspire me.

The latest inspiration I've got is from this very wonderful new novel I read some days ago. It has inspired me to work on about 7 manuscripts now. If interested, the novel is "The soul Talkers" by Funom Makama. Trust me when I tell you this, the novel will keep you at the edge of your seat from the front cover to the back cover. If you love reading novels, try to get it via the internet (where I did) and you would NEVER regret it. Nice question and I hope my response is worth reading.
    chao!
