Does it make some sense to promote organic farming?

More often than not, the policy makers around the world promote organic farming now a days. My point is why there is so much hype on the issue. Does organic farming addresses those issues that forced us to use chemical fertilisers long back in history?

Putting aside the possible benefits to your health of eating organically grown foods, this type of farming (and gardening) helps restore the earth to the way Mother Nature left it for mankind when we came aboard. The tilled ground is healthier, the nearby acreages are healthier, the streams and rivers are halthier and the animals who depend on streams and woodlands are healthier. Thumbs up for organic farming and to those who take the trouble to practice it.

thank you very much copper man. However, some people also raise the concerns like increasing number of stomachs and limits of land use for food production. As a hobby, organic farming may be a good idea, but will it be capable of feeding all?

Organic farming is working very well. I think we all should eat whole foods. Chemicals cause illness. I know that produce may not "look" nice but it tastes so much better. Most farmers feed us and with so many people we need to eat less "chemicals" and prepare for new food choices that will make history and healthy lives.

Completely agree with you, but the question is the cost of organic produce is so prohibiting that we often fail to suggest it as a farm policy of nations. In my parts of the world a majority people live with 2$ a day. Is organic farming a solution?
