   Another woman murdered because of Sharia law; where is the White House condemnation?
   
   Another woman has suffered the ultimate persecution by the "honor killings" trend in Pakistan - being stoned to death by her father and family members after she married the man she loved. Human Rights activists say 869 women were murdered in honor killings in Pakistan in 2013. But while the U.S. President (and his wife) have been very public in condemning the abduction of 300 kidnapped girls in Nigeria, the administration gives scarce criticism of crimes against general abuse of women committed by Sharia lovers. Why doesn't the WH show as much concern for these female victims of radical Islam?

   First: So called "honor killings" have little to do with Islam or Islamic culture and much to do with socio-historical traditions of male domination of women expressed as rape and murder. Such "traditions" are exceedingly common in India and occur globally---including in the United States and Canada and Latin America---where they are common and minimized in the courts as "crimes of passion".
   
   Second: The United States since 2012 (Obama Administration) has stepped up its efforts to attempt to address the problem of "honor killings" and has partnered with the United Kingdom in an effort not only to raise global awareness, but to stop the practice. These efforts include funding organizations and individuals dedicated to making the kinds of social and cultural and legal changes needed to end the practice. And, in fact, United States' efforts are concentrated in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
   
   Third: The focus on Nigeria is global and substantively a non-governmental focus. Michelle Obama is NOT the President of the United States nor is she an elected official. That said, the official response of the White House to the situation in Nigeria has been to offer to send a small team of "specialists" (a term used by the State Department) to help to recover the girls. No extraordinary measures, as you hint in your question, have been made.
   
   The fact is that President Obama has condemned honor killings and the kidnap of girls in Nigeria. The fact is that members of his administration have also condemned such actions---equally forcefully.
   
   The purpose of this question is obvious: To, once again, support the nonsensical crap that President Obama is not-American; that President Obama is African and Afrocentric; that President Obama is Muslim and covertly supportive of Sharia law.
   
   Disagreement with President Obama's politics and policies is entirely acceptable and part of the long tradition of partisan politics in the United States, but this relentless effort to discredit him by claiming he is not-American because of his African heritage and/or is a sympathizer of radical Islam because of his heritage is symptomatic of a larger American social and cultural problems to be solved.

      mbuggieh, there are many cultures that practice it, but it doesn't make it right or excuse the Sharia followers that practice it. I'm not commenting on Obama's heritage or status and I feel your attempt to sidetrack the issue is "nonsensical crap".

      Your first comment is a complete falsehood. Sharia law comes directly from Islamic religion and is resided over by Islamic judges. I find no reason to even bother with the rest after that complete falsehood.

      The only problem: Honor killings are not limited to Islam and/or Islamic cultures.
      
      Honor killings are a form of international crime against women and happen in every culture.
      
      Such killings are particularly common in India.
      
      Please explain why.

      According to a 2012 report from Islam In Europe (2012), 91 % of such murders were carried out by Islamic fundamentalists. Again, while these atrocities occur in a variety of cultures, the culture of Islamic extremism is THE predominant one.

      Now that I'm dazzled with all you guys knowledge, answer this. Why are the Obamas, especially Michelle, responsible for the resolving of every cultural problem on Earth? Why are Republicans so obsessed with trashing Obama? It's really getting old.

      Well IDONO, I am not a Republican (nor Tea Party member)...have praised Obama in the past, like the Obama kids and wish their family all the best..so hm, where does that leave such a tired old accusation?
