How to clean this type of straw?

   How to clean this type of straw?
   
   I've tried shooting scalding water in it, dishwasher, and soaking! The thing still has a small amount of milk residue in it. How do I get it clean?

   I would use a pipe cleaner. You can find a package of them at any arts and crafts store.

      I will try this - maybe soap the pipe cleaner up with some antibacterial soap first?

      My concern is if it would be able to be forced through the not so flexible straw without poking a hole in the straw.

   Peeples, great question! I have faced this same problem several times and usually end up throwing the twisty straws away because I am afraid of contaminating my kids! I'll be following the question and thanks for asking.

   I agree with Beth. They are subject to mildew with all the nooks and crannies just begging for deposits. I would try pushing distilled white vinegar down the tube. If that doesn't work, throw it away.

   to clean the straw fill it with white vinegarleave it 10 or fifteen minutes.to dissinfect it fill it with  a solution of four drops of regular plain bleach the kind without perfume in a pint of water.
