   Which is better, personal security or personal happiness?
   
   I have a burning desire to follow my bliss and write for a living, full-time.  I want to quit my job.  I know I need the money, but that place just scrambles my brains!  Am I crazy for wanting to leave my job or should I tie a knot and hang on?

   The answer could be different for each person-- you you are the only one who can answer the question.
   Here are a few things you should consider, before jumping in.
   1. Is anyone else dependent upon you. Your decision may affect others.
   2. Do you have some savings?  You might have to live on what you have put aside for an extended period. If you have no money put aside, you may want to keep the 'real' job until you have some monetary security.
   3, Have you researched how to make money through writing?  If so, do you have a portfolio of written or published work that you can show to potential customers?
   
   It is always best to make your living doing what you love, but a little forethought and planning makes it much easier to follow your dream.
   You may hate your job, but if you know it is only for a short time and you are  working  toward your own ideal--  it will seem more bearable. If, in the meantime, you find another job that is less stressfull, perhaps even part time-- that could help, too.

      Thanks you guys.  That's kinda what I was thinking.  The line of work I am in I have been doing for almost 10 years.  I'm ready to fly.

   I think it would entirely depend on how much savings you have and it would need all your financial requirements for at least the next 2 to 3 years. The reason I say 2 to 3 years is that one never knows how a new venture will turn out, let it be a business or a free lance writing career.
   Personal happiness is definitely important for mental well-being. So at one point, you might want to look at what you hate most about your workplace - the boss, the peers or the work itself it.
   If it's something specific to the place or people, a change of job would fix that (assuming that the new job offers a better place or people). But if you no longer enjoy the work, then you could plan to secure your future financially before quitting completely. It's all about not putting all the eggs in one basket.
