What form of government is preferable?

Should we strive for a theocracy, as one based on the Bible or Quran? A Marxist socialism that mandates absolute equality. A Socialism of varying degrees of political definition. A government based upon the ideal of individual freedom.?

Theocracy is archaic and outdated. Religion should stay in the pocket of the believer not forced into the homes of  the general populace. Theocracies throughout history have been breeding grounds for inequality and human rights violations, in the modern world they are even more dangerous. Socialism in the idea of Marx, is a wonderful idea that would do so much but the human condition will not allow such an idea to flourish without corruption. The current form of Corporate socialism in America is a failure as well. Capitalism and Plutocracies unchecked create famine and new age slavery. Freedom for the people should always be the priority of government. America claims Democracy is the way but the world has never experienced true Democracy. So, how could one know? The Democratic Republic is the closest thing the world has ever seen and we have seen it corrupted and decimated from the inside out. Capitalism as an economic venture has only truly worked with a socialistic government to combat abuse by the monied powers. I believe that the economic interests should be coupled with socialized protections for the people not the most wealthy. The fear of a true democratic society is that the mass of people will overwhelm the voice of the few, but all throughout history it has been the few who silence the mass of people. The question that comes to my mind is not what form of Government but what type of world is preferable. Our race has killed and maimed each other for so long. We have made laws of man and laws claimed to be based from the will of a God or Gods just so a certain portion of the population can have power over the other. Governing is the will of a few imposed on the many. True Democracy is the only way to have the tables turned but true Democracy will never exist. So, the people have to settle with a society that is economically run capitalistically but checked by socialistic based government. Not a Nanny State or a Police State but a Free State that checks and balances the economically free with the economically impoverished. There are many good things that can be taken from Marx and many good things that can be taken from Capitalism. Mix these things with a true Democracy not just a Democratic republic and maybe some good would come of it. In the end, no form of government or economic system  can ever be perfect because the human race is not and never has been perfect. We fix ourselves, we fix our problems. Respect and be Brothers.     Sorry for the rant.

Warren-Not a rant, but well stated. I would disagree in that the US is a Constitutional Republic, not a democratic republic--there is a difference. http://www.stopthenorthamericanunion.co … cracy.html

True, you are correct. Yet, we allow all citizens to vote which brings the idea of democracy into the mix and here is where I translate it into a democratic republic, albeit roughly. America claims democracy as its shield which murks the water a bit.

Warren--As a Constitutional Republic the democratic process with regards, primarily, The Bill of Rights--Founding Principles, are not up for vote by anyone.
