Should I file a copyright issue or leave it?

    Should I file a copyright issue or leave it?

    I created a video about how to import a website into Hostinger some months ago. After I searched it, it was on two different other websites, the first website can be pardoned but I noticed that realitytv.us also has my video. I feel tempted to leave it but maybe it can generate more traffic when they view it on Youtube from their website but the voiceover was removed. Should I leave it on their website or should I file a copyright issue. My main point is that I want it in the best of my interest in terms of number of views but i'm not sure if  it will benefit me leaving it on their website

    I'd have to read through the YouTube TOS again, but I don't think you have a legal standing on which to ask the person to remove the video from their site as long as they have it there using the YouTube link to embed it at their site. We do the same thing here at HP when we use YouTube videos created by other people in our hubs. The voiceover may still be there, but whoever runs the site knows how to do .html coding so there is no sound associated with the video.

    There are two things which would give the grounds to ask for it to be removed. 1) The person has used your video to create a new video file in order to remove the voiceover and did so without your permission and/or 2) if they have it posted (even using the link to your video on YouTube) and they're telling people it's their video.

    If they've embedded your YouTube video, you can't file a DMCA complaint. What you can do is disable embedding, which will turn the click to play the video into a click that takes the viewer back to YouTube to view it. This is a universal action, so you will be disabling all embedding, everywhere.

    If they've made a copy of your video, removing your voice or your credit, and uploaded it to another account, file the DMCA complaint with YouTube, and they will remove it.
