How to setup a Godaddy domain for a wordpress.com blog?

Previously I had very easily setup my Blogger blog with a Godaddy domain, but now I am thinking to redirect my wordpress.com blog to another domain bought from Godaddy. But in the process of a little research, I have come to know that setting up a custom domain for a wordpress.com blog is a little more technical and involves some costs. Is it really so that we have to pay additionally for redirecting our wordpress.com blogs apart from the domain registration charges?

I believe there is a cost for custom domains on Wordpress.com. You'd be better off exporting your WP.com blog, and setting up your own installation on your GoDaddy domain.

Doing so would require me to move from wordpress.com to wordpress.org? If yes, then could I manage without being a tech savvy person? And I also think that a wordpress.org domain would be more expensive in terms of price, isn't it?

I can tell by your reply that you probably don't yet have the skills for a self-hosted installation. Pay the fees at WordPress.com to have your site on a custom domain.

So, if I add a custom domain for my wordpress.com blog, would I be able to add plugins or third-party functionality and ads such as Google AdSense on my blog? I basically want to use Google AdSense on my WordPress blog. Specifically guide me for it.

Your site will still be hosted at WordPress.com, and will still have the same restrictions of any site hosted there. Nothing will change except the appearance of your address. Instead of username.wordpress.com, your blog will be at yourdomain.com.

Oh then I need to go for wordpress.org. Can I manage it when I am not an expert programmer? I have the basic html skills. Would it do?

You have to be able to install the program on your host's server, and configure your database and domain name. If you don't know how, check with GoDaddy, and see if they can help you.
