Celebreties should dedicate a difinite portion of their earnings for the needy? What's your opinion?
We know celebrities earn huge amount, their wealth is far more surplus than what is required. We also know that it is the people who become source of their earnings, be it wealth or fame. But we are not sure who is benefitting from their wealth. Do you think that it should be made mandatory for them to spend a considerable portion of their wealth for betterment of the people?
How can you make it mandatory to donate or spend it for others?
It is their own earning and they can spend it as they wish. Nobody can put obligations on them. It is their will if they wish to spend it generously for some good social cause.
You can not decide who should benefit from their wealth. They can do anything as they like with their wealth and one should not bother what they are doing with their wealth.
I do agree with you, but look at its moral side, particularly underdeveloped countries have been badly marred with social issues like poverty, unemployment, lack of medical facilities, illiteracy etc, their involvement will play an imp role, what say?
I agree with the feeling that it is good if they contribute a portion of their wealth for the social causes. But, what I say is we can't make it obligatory or demand from them. We may request them, that is all we can do. But, I feel better if they do
absolutely correct, by mandatory it does not mean formulation of laws, what i mean is people should raise their concerns and those who are well to do should come forward and feel the responsibility and also a sense of accountability.
There's a very simple way to make it obligatory: tax their income.
I think this falls under personal belief. I believe that all people have an obligation to help those who are less fortunate, according to their means.
In America, I don't think most of us realize how dire poverty is, or what it's like to live without. Many of us have never seen poor people, or at least we've never acknowledged that we have. I also think we're not completely aware of how much our system of government allows us to keep, relative to other countries, who tax their citizens more heavily to pay for social programs to help the less fortunate.
I think if you live in a place that allows you to accumulate mass amounts of wealth and keep it, you have a moral obligation to use some of that to help people who are less fortunate. Sadly, most Americans take the attitude, "I've got mine. Go get your own."
Insightful . We need to educate both, celebrities should be taught, their fan following is nothing but their resources, they even die for their heroes, but what they get in turn? Masses should be educated that the concentration of wealth is dangerous
Taxing is something a good idea. But most of them can find means to escape taxation through other means. So it becomes difficult to get enough revenue from taxation to serve the poor. So, better if they spend voluntarily for poor & get tax discou
Yes, the very rich have pricey lawyers and accountants that get them out of a lot of the taxes. Then it's the middle class that get hurt - the people struggling to pay the taxes, but make just too much for any benefit from those social programs.
No, because it takes away the motivation. Everybody has a mind just like the celebrities. If they are determined, they can find a way to wealth. It is question of personal effort, not taking away from others. The poor cannot be helped if they don't make the effort to rise up out of poverty. A hand out only feeds a person for today. The next day they are hungry again.
I am not in favour of making people idle or rely on someone's wealth. What i mean is the wealthy people have far more than what is required for sustenance of their family. Where the surpluss wealth should go? Systematic and consistent spending on the
What I think and advocate is, the wealthy can donate money for projects aimed at creating income for the poor and needy. In this way they will donate labour and you donate revenue and both will get reward for their actions. But pay them sufficient
THANK YOU! NO ONE OWES anyone ANYTHING. If a person wants something, he/she should WORK for it PURE and SIMPLE!
No, people can spend their money how they like. I wouldn't want to live in a country that ran any other way.
Obviously, people able to help others should make an effort to do so, but by no means are they obligated, nor should they be.
Nice kerbev, do you have any idea as to how many celebrities spending their wealth on social cause? I think we should focus on the financial flow. It shoud come down from top to bottom, the wealth of the biggies should circulate among the deserving p
I think celebrities do better than a lot of other rich people in other occupations. I'm not really sure why you're focusing on them. https://www.looktothestars.org/
You can't force people to do something they don't want to do. If I had tons of money, I'd donate tons to worthy causes. But that's me. I'm nowhere close to being rich, but I give what I can to the people and organizations I choose. Do you? If so, I'm glad. If not, that's your choice, not mine. There are far more of us of moderate income than there are those with huge fortunes. Don't try to force the others to give away money. Lead by example. You can't "guilt trip" people into giving to the poor, but if they see the good we little people can do with a little money they might be more inclined to help in bigger ways.
Agreed. There should be a mechanism in society and people get opportunities to interact with each other in view of resources they share. No society can progress, in true sense, if the people left to act according to their wish. Thanks for your feed.
