   Do you have any specific method of studying Books
   
   How do you study books, what is the method of going through articles, how you remember things read?

   Ya whenever I red my books, I follow some steps. First I take pencil with me to highlight some important topics. Secondly I read slowly slowly my book. Third I talk  myself after reading one or two para. I ask myself some questions after reading one or two para. The questions are How, When, Where etc. when I ask these questions then I get answers and start new para. and follow same steps for all books.

   I am a highlighter freak! I tend to highlight anything I want to remember and usually I will also write the highlighted passage down in a notebook.

   I typically read them and try to retain information. If there is a lot of information I often will get out a pad of paper and a writing utensil so I can take notes.  This way if I forget, I can go back to that trusty note pad and remember.  I may be way off on this, but that's my process.

   This is from a reading class - power reading, at a community college. I first decide purpose. Then I decide strategy. For a book I want to "Study" I do what I was taught called pre-reading. It goes like this. You read the table of contents and if an Index that too. You skim the glossary. You skim the apendix. Now a general idea of the book and its emphasis information may be formed. If only information is sought it is a different strategy.
   
   Next, read the first chapter and the last chapter. Now, pre-read each chapter. Read the chapter heading, the first 3 or 5 paragraphs. Next read each paragraph topic sentence and any sub-topic headings along the way. Read the last 3 - 5 paragraphs of each chapter.
   
   This is based on we learn in layering. We layer upon layer. So, with that information imprinted in the mind through our complicated neuro-network biologcially neuron pathways are formed. As we thoroughly read each chapter for each assignment or if read early to get ahead there is a layer already established to build upon. Those neuro pathways are there and are reinforced.
   
   Connections occur between once learned information with new information. Before reading each chapter determine purpose. Decide the questions to be answered usually from study guides or assignments. Read the chapter thoroughly. There is a new layer.
   
   Answer assigned questions by going back and read/skim for information. Another layer forms. Answer the questions. Another layer forms. Reinforcement also occurs for ideas, themes, and facts. Now, once finished studying pre-read the chapter again. Another layer is formed reinforcing thought organization or making better neuron pathway connections.

      Hello! I have a three leg reading strategy. Study as shared, reading for information, and reading for pleasure. An article most likely I read for information. Questioning then seek answers. Stop once achieved. Pleasure is pleasure.

      That means short write ups just provide info? Can't provoke our senses? Then how come most of the time only a small piece of writing causes huge impacts? Letters, written speeches, resolutions... do you find any difference between these & article

      Not at all. Short is not the question. Purpose is the question. I read short articles thoroughly all the time. I read them for pleasure and information. Who says you don't need to read the whole article to get the information needed.  Not me!!!

      You are welcom Abdullah. Pondering I would say there is another. The inspirational reading too. That is a mix of pleasure and information. I think that is like what your suggested. Tailoring the basic strategies is open of course for each individual.

   I actually read them cover to cover; it helps with the "big picture."  Then I take notes (short hand) on all chapters. Then I compare and contrast with my lecture notes. It is time-consuming; yet it worked so well for me in Graduate School...
