In what ways today's technology has changed the mindset of our children?
How to channalise the potentials of our children, how to prevent them from falling prey to bad habits, what precautions must be taken to prevent loss, if any?
Today's technology is definitely impacting our children; both in good and bad ways. On the pro's side; children develop hand-eye coordination, language skills, and the ability to multitask at a younger age (in many cases). However, there has also been an increase in bad habits such as laziness, not wanting to do anything other than "play games" which is contributing to child obesity, always expecting for there to be an electronic game to play (leading to temper tantrums, disobedience, and an inactive lifestyle), and finally an earlier exposure to harmful media.
The key to getting the benefits of technology to our children without spoiling them is in moderation. Finding the right balance for your child between physical activity, play time, electronics, and learning. Parental controls do keep out most harmful media, however many parents view certain "kid shows" as degenerative; so that has to be decided in the home.
I hope this helps
welcome to hubpages matt, thanks for the excellent reply, you are true parents play important role in kids involvement. For the process of moderation to move with an extra pace, an awareness among the parents & the concerned persons is must. than
Thanks for the welcome I strongly agree with the parents, guardians, even siblings, being aware of how impressionable young children are. When it comes to a child's environment it really does take a combined effort to succeed.
Totally agreed with you matt, infact those days are seems to be over when our grandma and grandpa used to narrate stories, now the e-media is shouldering the responsibility. We need to bring back that past era for a better future of our children.
Children no longer play with as many physical toys. Now many are used to screens (tablets / phones / computer) for their toys. Many find that "unplugging" is more difficult as this activity is not only removing from social media, but also from all their toys at once.
I think the best thing parents can do to help reduce the inability to "unplug" is to set rituals themselves (eg. no phones at mealtime) and to buy off-line, real, physical toys for their kids.
Thanks for engaging feedback. Great daxamite.

What are today's parents doing to create a generation of entitled youth?

Why are today's kids so disrespectful?I feel like today's kids are getting more and more disrespectful. They are rude to their parents, their peers and most important of all, they are rude to elderly people.

What are your thoughts on parents who drink alcohol? Here in the USA I notice a lot of parents who seem fearful of having a drink for fear of judgement from other parents. What is your take on it? Do you think having children should mean no more drinking?
