   Horehound candy was the most horrid tasting candy. I had never seen it before and an elderly lady was passing them out. when I took a piece to pop in my mouth, I spit it out right quick. When we got home I showed my Mom and told her how awful they were. She took them because she loved the taste. Yuck !

   All of them are pretty useless because I keep forgetting the bag to carry them around in!
   
   I've never really had much bad experiences with trick or treating when I was a nipper, so I guess something like a Freddo bar (5 pence back in my day!) because of how cheap it was. Can't complain though - it was free afterall! ^^

      It's a small chocolate bar in the shape of a humanoid frog called "Freddo". They make nice treats, but aren't very filling - you get what you pay for I suppose! ^^

   I distinctly remember as a child these orange harmonicas that you could play it and then eat it. And they tasted terrible because they were made of wax, it was like eating a soft stale candle. Wax candy in general is bad, but those orange harmonicas made Halloween absolutely suck.

   One family in my neighborhood passed out Christian tracts to trick or treaters one year spouting "Halloween is the Devil's Holiday" nonsense. Needless to say, that went over really well. So many kids crumpled them up and threw them back onto their lawn that the next morning it looked like it had snowed.

      It's been so many years that I honestly don't remember...if I had to guess, I'd bet they were part of the comic book style "Chick Tracts" series by fundamentalist loonie cartoonist Jack Chick.

   Religious tracts, for sure. I guess it's more common than you might expect!
   
   Also, I really dislike licorice, so any form of that usually went into the trash.

   I guess, when I was young, what I thought was the most useless "treat" while I was still young to only expect candy was fruit - or eggs.
