   What is Christmas without Christ?
   
   I think every year we lose a little bit more about what Christmas is all about. Perhaps before long we will soon forget why we even celebrate Christmas.

   It is a wonderful time to spend with family and friends no matter their belief. It is paid time off from a good job to enjoy the comforts of your family. It is a morning to give back to the people in your life that you care about. It is a month of sharing fun memories with children.
   Even for us who are not Christians, the month of December is plenty amazing. Some of us do not celebrate because of religion, but because of love.

   If one studies the origin of Christmas they'll find a fascinating story. The pagan holiday or The Roman Winter solstice celebrations were held this time of year. Christmas & the Epiphany were in January.
   In the Council of Tours of 567, the Church "declared the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany to be one unified festal cycle", thus giving significance to both December 25 and January 6. The Gregorian calendar, currently corresponds to (January 7), the day after the Western Christian Church celebrates the Epiphany.
   Essentially the church decided to piggy back Christ's birth on a holiday period that was already very popular. I imagine Christmas without Christ would be celebrated as the  Winter Solstice festival.

   I absolutely love Christmas and I am an atheist.
   
   Some of my happiest childhood memories are around Christmastime because I was together with my whole family who I love very much (and some of whom are unfortunately now gone). 
   
   I know people say Christmas is too commercialized but I love having an excuse to buy things for the people I love. It's so nice to buy something and know that my daughter is going to light up when she sees it.
   
   I also love being able to do Santa again now that I have a young child. The sense of imagination and magic is so refreshing and heartwarming.
   
   I love the lights and decorations, they brighten up an otherwise kind of dreary time of year.
   
   Christmas is different for everyone. Just because my celebrations don't involve Jesus doesn't mean that they're devoid of importance or love.
   
   I know plenty of people who celebrate Christmas for what you would probably consider to be the 'right' reason (birth of Christ), but I don't think celebrating Christmas for any other reason is 'wrong' as long as it comes from a good, happy place.

   I think the meaning of why Christmas is celebrated has changed a lot in the past few years. Now there are so many meaning behind Christmas besides Christ.
   
   If you asked a child today what Christmas it about, you might be shocked or surprised what it means to them. I think as long as the meaning behind Christmas (and not the extra gifts) is focused more upon by family which I suspect some do, then Christmas is what you make of it as a family which is spending time together.

   A Christmas without Christ is not Christmas at all in my opinion. I always thought that little Jesus was born on Christmas day and that is why we celebrate Christmas day which was set on December 25 of each year. I know that nowadays there is much talk about Christmas being commercialised but then it depends on each individual how they will celebrate their Christmas day. For me, the family gathering and having Christmas dinner together and have fun games afterwards is just enough. Giving gifts is part of the fun but we don't have to get ourselves in debt because of it. Some people stress themselves trying to buy the most expensive gift to give their loved one and even overspend on their credit card just so they could give but that is not the point, is it? Christmas has lost its true meaning.

   I agree with you. Not only Christmas, but practically most celebrations across several religions have turned out to be  opportunities to indulge in extravaganza forgetting all about the religious significance and the spiritual background with which the original celebration came into practice.
