Why does the world want to do away with God?
They took prayer out of school and once talked about taking in "God we trust" off of the money.
I'm not sure they want to do away with God as much as be tolerant for everyone's beliefs. It's a pretty sensitive topic and it probably always will be. It doesn't help that history and current events show that a government controlled by or heavily integrated with one religion usually doesn't end well.
It's' ok to be tolerant of others beliefs, but it's not away to turn your back on the God that America was built around. Which is the God of love. Without love there is no hope for the future. Whose to say what's right or wrong? Thing become corrupt.
Tammy read this hub please and get some truth from it: http://linzieroberts.hubpages.com/hub/T … -Under-God
One reason is, everybody cannot agree on which God, or the existence of God. Since the concept has been handed down from primitive people, based on faith, with no visible form, people question it. Also, the more they learn about cause and effect and about their own power, they less they want to buy into the notion of an omnipotent being who runs everything, grants favors to some and ignores others while they suffer. It is either an awakening to truth or a grave mistake due to self exaltation, or arrogance.
The God from the beginning. The God of love. The God that old Great leaders loved. God does not cause suffering. It is brought on by situations, bad choice, our ancestors, and our own free will. God is the God of a second, a relief from suffering.
Tammy if only that were true. There are countless instances where (God ordered the killings) of men, women, children, and infants according to the bible. After saying "Thy shall not kill." http://www.evilbible.com/Murder.htm
Because something isn't visible doesn't mean it don't exist. The wind blows and you can't see it. Germs and disease are all around and you can' t see it.
I'm not sure where you are getting your facts.
There are Billions of people who believe in God. There are 1.6 billion Muslims. The number of Christians around the world has nearly quadrupled in the last 100 years, from about 600 million in 1910 to more than 2 billion in 2010. Buddhists are estimated at around 350 million. Hinduism has 1 Billion. Most people identify with a religion!
Neither God or forms of religion are going anywhere! The debate in the U.S. has always been about the founding fathers wanting to avoid the country becoming a "religious state" similar to Iran. The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law (respecting an establishment of religion), or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Therefore (publically funded) schools and institutions tend to be hands off when it comes to prayer. Those that are not funded by the government continue to pray.
I was under the impression that Buddhists don't subscribe to any deities.
Some teachers tell students beginning Buddhist meditation that the notion of divinity is not incompatible with Buddhism. Like Christianity there are different sects. Theravada Buddhists, Mahayana Buddhists, and Dhammakaya Movement of Thailand
I suppose if that deity didn't conflict with self-empowerment, then it would be possible.
Freedom of Religion was what this country was started from. In God We Trust was NOT on our money until around the 1940's. So who put it there in the first place? God is not metioned or wasn't mentioned in the first centures of our history. Why can't we be more tolerant of all beliefs? Why is there such a division? Why cannot the Christians, that only see that it is best to pay homage to their God, understand the words of Jesus and to Love One Another and do unto others as they want them to be treated in like manner?
The division of Church and State in America is being overruled by those who see fit to tell everyone else how to worship and what to worship and how they should live. The division is getting blurred and lies are being told by those who want to control other people...nothing about love there. It is scary.
Jesus also said that The Kingdom of God and all the laws are already WITHIN us. Taking it off of government things is NOT going to change who you are or who others are.
True Christian do love. The Christian God is love. Christians( followers of Christ) know that the Holy Bible states that you should serve the Lord God and him only should thy serve.
So what does tha have to do with my answer?
Taking prayer out of public schools, and 'in god we trust' off of money, is not the same as doing away with god. These are legal issues for a government that cannot establish a national religion. But the practice of religion (and the freedom to do it) is unaffected by such decisions.
When some kids today see no hope they pickup a gun and shoot up schools. But if they was familiar with the God of love, who is hope, through prayer, they would see a way out. The God who some of the greatest leaders loved.
There is no evidence to suggest that prayer in schools has any impact on the rate of school shootings. Bullying and weapon accessibility are tangible problems we can actually work on.
Dashingscorpio, God has killed people for disobedience. (Warning comes before destruction) God is not like man. He has standard of love he wants us to follow. Which some laws we go by in the USA is as it is in the holy bible.(killing, stealing, etc..
Tammy how do you know these kids that pick up guns do not know or have not been to church and are Christians themselves? Do not judge others that way. You DON'T know this. Division of Chruch and State was for a specific reason.
Tammy you said in one comment: "The God of love. ...God does not cause suffering" What did infants, children, and animals do to deserve to be slaughtered? I don't believe God killed them but (men did) using their God as an excuse!

I am sincerely curious as to why those who do not believe in the existence of God would spend time and energy to convince others to believe the same? I am asking this respectfully and am seeking true, valid answers--not attacks or arguments. I just want to understand the...
