What is a good balance between love & discipline in parenting?
What do you think is a healthy balance between offering love, security and gentleness to your child but also disciplining well and setting firm boundaries and how does this change according to age?
That's a tough balance to strike but I think if discipline is seen as a form of love, that's a start. Young children have underdeveloped impulse control so they are looking for parents to help them control their behavior by setting limits. It shows that you love them and care what happens to them. It doesn't have to be harsh, just consistent.
I never thought about it as helping them with impulse control but I like that, it is more working for them than against them.
discipline is something which can make a best father....
love is something which can make a good mother....

There must be a balance between believing and non-believing. If you do not believe anything, it is a great problem which will lead you to misfortune. On the other hand, if you have a habit of believing everything that masses believe in, you are just a blind believer.

Being content with my lot vs the adage about not resting on my oars, how does one strike a balance? The church and other faiths want you to be content with your lot but we also know that in other to stay with the pack, you have to keep at it.

It seems that parenting either goes one of two ways, a parent either overparents and harms the child, if you can call that parenting, or they don't parent and the child is running around and doing as they please. Where is the parenting I grew up with where even the neighbors displined me?
