What do you expect from a Presidential candidate ? Do you feel any of them stands out ?

Is age a factor ? Is government office experience a factor ? Religious background ? What do YOU look for..as to qualifications ?

For a change, I would like somebody with backbone who says what he thinks.  Trump is the only candidate where I feel I don't have to wonder what he really means--he just blurts it out. Refreshing!!

Thanks Kimberly ,I have to agree with what you speak of,speaking out both sides of the mouth gets old.
However, remember the present official in the WH never held any political office , also never expressed his own original thoughts on anything hmm ?

kjforce, Are you referring to the current president?
President Obama was a U.S. Senator prior to getting elected president. There are many archived tapes concerning his thoughts on the Iraq war and his votes on other issues while he was a senator

Most candidates support (their) party's platform or agenda.
Therefore one has to look at what issues are most important to them as well as determine who would make the best president to deal with their perception of the (current problems) of the time.
I normally look for someone who has been elected to at least one government office and is aware how congress and legislation works.
Being a successful entrepreneur where one gives staff orders to follow or be fired is a lot different than having to work with congress!
This notion that having absolutely no experience qualifies someone to be president of the U.S. is quite baffling in my opinion.
No one would want a doctor who never went to med school or had simply run a successful bakery or real estate business until yesterday to address their health issues. Age is only a factor with regard to good health. Intellect is far more important than religious background.
Overall I look at the given period we're in along with the current issues and then try to figure out who I think would be best to focus on and solve those problems.

One thing is for certain no president has ever appeased everyone! Not even Jesus Christ was capable of doing that! smile

My vote is for Bernie Sanders.  He has a long, verifiable record of standing up for what he believes in and he is not accepting any money from lobbyists, corporate interests etc.  I have been a fan of his since the wars started and he had the guts to vote against them - when hardly no one else on either side would.  He's also consistently voted against the trade deals that have sent many of our better paying jobs overseas to low wage countries - so much more.  There's a reason the main stream media is paying much less attention to him than the rest they want to hand the coronation to.  Trump may say what he thinks unvarnished, but he's bankrupted numerous businesses and he's an ignorant narcissist who wants attention, (this is why mainstream media pays attention to him).  We've had enough ignorance and wall street in politics.  There is much more I could say, but I encourage others to actually go look at Bernie's record and his history.  He's always stood up for truth even when it wasn't popular, because he truly votes his conscience and really wants to stop the continued decimation of the middle and working class.  I know republicans and democrats alike who are inspired by his campaign and how it's getting some much needed conversations going at the very least.

Hello....what a question!!   Deep breath..........Unless they're old, senile and decrepit, age isn't really a factor for me.  Government "experience may be a plus.  As long as they've had the time to get the "gist" of how it all works, but not long enough to become a bona-fide LIAR, thief, manipulator, BS artist, a "bought & paid for" crooked Politician.

Religious background??  Don't care but they positively MUST cling firmly to the fact that  the TWO shall never be confused, mixed nor brought together for any reason whatsoever!

What I look for is 1.) Their record, in whatever office for whatever State they're associated with  2.) Honesty, straightforwardness, strong ability to LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE/ TAXPAYERS OF THE U.S.  3)  Fully understand, appreciate and ACT like they WORK FOR US AT ALL TIMES, WITH EVERY DECISION AND ISSUE!  4.) Insistence upon keeping the PEOPLE informed   5.) A stellar work ethic & sense of responsibility   6.) A willingness to cut the size of government and SAVE OUR COUNTRY AND CREATE A WORLD WORTHY OF THE GENERATIONS TO COME.

I am certain who does NOT stand out.....I have made no decision on the 2 that might be acceptable for either side....it's much too soon.
