What we have to do with 'Editbot'? Out of my 110 hubs 51 have that symbol.
It looks annoying. Is it proper to correct the minor mistakes of the commenters?
I too feel comments should be left in its original state and not be altered / edited / corrected. Those who comment, do so in a hurry without paying much attention to spelling and punctuation. I am grateful to all those who comment and have commented on my articles and would not be too comfortable in "correcting" them. .....
Thanks quicksand!
I agree with your answer. I feel grateful to those who find time to leave comments on others hubs. I am afraid this may demoralize readers to make comments. And ultimately demotivate the writers to write another hub. Thanks!
I think it is wrong and a waste of time correcting other people's comments but there are a lot of forums on this. They say Google rates hubs according to the quality of spelling etc in comments too. Almost all the changes on my hubs are in comments, have only found one correction in the body of one hub. We can uncheck the tick next to the edited word to change it back if you want to spend the time doing that.
Thanks John Hansen!
Fortunately my 'edits' are also in the comments section. Yes the forums made things clearer. But this is a global writing site. The approved edit may be of US/ UK/ Aussie or any other English and that makes it a bit difficult.
Ah yes, i saw that, i was alarmed too. But the grammar n spelling was rectified in our hubs immediately
Thanks peachy!
It's the errors in the comments section that are bothering. It may discourage readers from making comments. Thank you!
I think we should let it do its job, as it has been rolled in to improve the quality of hubs by editing the grammatical mistakes.
Naturally, it will pounce upon the comments field also. So, our friends whoever commented and get the hammer of Editbot, must acknowledge the helplessness of the hubber on whose hub they commented. It is the robot's job and no incidence of humiliation should be felt.
But, one thing I have experienced is, the robot does not sometimes differentiate between the instances when some words starting with a consonant letter should be treated as starting with vowel. For example H in Hindu, should be treated as vowel in my opinion. So it looks correct when you refer to Hindu as "he is an Hindu" instead of "he is a Hindu". This distinction is not made properly by the Editbot.
Thank Venkatachari ji!
I agree with your observation. The vowel / consonant edits in the comments section by some readers are accepted practice that have been changed by 'editbot'. I have no issues if it improves the Google ranking of HP. Thank you!
The corrections are minor and already done. They do not show up to others only to you if you want to check the corrections. I'm glad it caught my own typos in comments as it is embarrassing when I type too fast and don't notice.
Yes I agree Faith, I am always making mistakes in comments because I type too fast and don't always check what I wrote within the five minutes you have to change it. So I welcome my own comments being corrected.
Thank you Faith Reaper!
I agree with you. If it improves the Google ranking of HP, it is good. But I want those lovely comments coming on my hubs and I hope they are not affected by 'Editbot'.
Fortunately in my case the edits are for comments only

I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...

Not sure if this is a problem or me not reading it right. On our "hubs you have commented on" page, the comments are split into "4 hrs" "24 hrs" and "ever".I've wanted to use it recently to check whether anyone responded to my comment. Now, I know I made...

Is it rude to point out grammar/spelling mistakes on hubs via comments?I've come across numerous hubs that have grammar and spelling errors, some minor and some littered with mistakes. Otherwise, these hubs would be interesting and will written in my opinion. Is it rude to point out these mistakes...

I always appreciate it when someone lets me know about a typo or an error of fact in my hubs. I have also given a heads-up to others and they have been appreciative. When I tell someone about an error, I send them a private email. What is the proper thing to do? Ignore what looks like an...
