Does poetry do well on hubpages?

Is it worth it to create a poem hub?

I don't see any issues with it. You retain the rights to your poem, and you get a large possible viewer base.

This is a huge relief. I was worried about publishing on hubpages and then not being able to add them to a book later

I think so, Kris. A Hub does well if its writer tend to follow other Hubbers and leave some good comments. They will likely follow you then. Still, there is no guarantee as your Hub should also remind them of decent quality.

I feel that most of us have this potential, and perhaps you're already there. Why don't you try? Hub Pages are full of great Poets, but I can give you a couple or so names. Audrey Howitt; Nellieanna, Deergha (not so active now), Jodah ...many more.

Poetry does well because you will be in with a chance of becoming the Poetry Hubber of the Year. Some of the above-mentioned poets have many followers. I have over 250 poems on here, and I have been on Hub Pages just 6 years. I have recently completed my 301 Hub. Jump in and best wishes.

Poetry does as well as most other types of hubs here. Many of my hubs are poetry. I enjoy writing poems and can usually write one quickly.

Poetry is interesting and appreciated very much here but it does not score high enough according to the staff or the scoring standard. Very seldom does it make "Hub of the Day." Poetry is looked at as an expression of the poet's viewpoint but a lot of us write poetry as well as interesting articles. Poetry is as important as anything written and expressed. It helps to relieve tension, brings out the emotions of the poet and sentiments of the reader. In my opinion, it does well enough.

That's what I was expecting, but it will be good to also have some leisure writing published and on display for others to see.

No, poetry doesn't do well anywhere, really. But the purpose of poetry is to paint word pictures and explore different forms of communication. If your goal is to do well, then write How-To articles, not poetry. If your goal is to express yourself whether anyone cares or not, put your poems out there!
