Hope is "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen," so I actually try not to have hope. Hope creates two things I don't want: vulnerability to disappointment, and immunity to pleasant surprises. Instead I try to be satisfied in the moment, and open to whatever happens, good or bad.
How do we keep our jobs? By paying attention to detail: Respect, tolerance; diligence; punctuality, team work (the ability to fit into the tribe), production and results, etc ...
We need the money to pay the bills; feed the children; take the wife out ....
We also nourish and maintain the body and mind this way.
We are of two parts, outer and inner; Body and Soul. Hope is a quality of the latter, but needs feeding the same way as the outer does. So once again, spiritual practices are necessary: Japa, singing, breathing and visualisation techniques, prayer, meditation ....it varies according to the bent of the individual Soul.
I write here on Hub Pages. I try to inspire; to elevate; to serve; to reach the Heart ...so too, I also receive from others. So people help us. A sweet story of a Mandela and how Invictus helped him in prison, or about Gandhiji, Martin Luther King Jnr; Abe Lincoln ...numerous others. Point is that stories of sacrifice and bravado, also gives us hope.
Believing in a figure who came before us: Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna ...as well as inspiration from people in everyday life doing impossible things! Our children and especially the so called disabled.
We see this all the time. Perhaps Professor Hawkins is a good example of someone who beat the odds and survived to inspire us all. Cancer sufferers sometimes do the impossible, and this in turn is highlighted on the T.V. People who are our friends and are positive; upbeat, valiant; dauntless ...can also help us. Hari Om!
I keep my hope alive due to my faith in God.
I have learned that the greatest pain in the world is loss, but the greatest peace is acceptance of life as it is.
Many people blame God when a tragedy occurs.
I do not. I never blame God for anything.
Many tragedies are results of our own choices...but I have seen much good come from bad choices. Often people learn from their mistakes.
When I make a mistake or am heartbroken, I simply pray, "God please make something good come from this situation."
Herein is the hope...that things will turn out all right in the future.
99 percent of the time things always turn out the way they are supposed to...it may take months, years, but, in many cases, hope prevails.
Those things I cannot explain, such as a child dying from an automobile accident, or cancer, or a wonderful person murdered...I still do not question God. I will ask Him about it when I enter eternity.
With all the evil in the world, I still KNOW and HOPE and focus on the good that is in the world.
Love prevails over evil.
People come together in the midst of horrific events, such as floods, earthquakes, and disaster from events such as 9/11.
Hope means never giving up. My faith in God will always keep my hopes alive.
Thank you for this great question. Sparklea

If a friend is struggling and ready to throw in the towel, how can you encourage them? Hope is so powerful; yet so many of us give up and lose hope so easily. What can you do to keep hope alive?

Do you believe that hope can get you through anything?

I have observed atheists. They have a striking similarity. They think the existence of a Creator God is impossible. I mean, why? What is so uncanny in a God? There are lots of things we don't know about, and don't understand. Maybe God is the Ultimate Unexplained? Why do ya atheists fear the *idea...

Do you expect that good things will happen for you?I want to be optimistic, and I usually am. I do find, however, that when I am over worked and stressed that I am living my life with the expectation that it will all getter better and easier. I wonder if this is a sub-conscious mental trick that...

When God come How many people will be saved that are alive. the bible states only 144,000, that are alive will be save out the whole world. How many dead will be saved, the bible state a number that no man can number.

Can you, without quoting or referencing the Bible give me solid arguments as to the existence of GodDon't even mention the Bible! It is totally irrelevant and is not a credible source. It was not written by God, but men. So, without aid of your Bible, prove to me that God exists!
