Have Your Earnings Gone Down In The Last Year?

This is geared more toward those who have been on HP for year/s and therefore notice long term trends, but anyone can answer for sure!

I've noticed in the past year that my traffic numbers have pretty much stayed the same as previous years, but I'm now earning about 1/4 of the money I used to. Has anyone else noticed this?

I personally will no longer write articles on here other than to direct traffic to my other sites. What about you?

You're not the only one who noticed this.  My earnings drastically decreased from November 2015-present.  This is beyond ridiculous if you ASK ME!   Hopefully my earnings will be WHAT THEY USED TO BE.  In the past, I was actually PROUD of my earnings.  Now they are totally abysmal!!!!

Yeah, I hear ya! I used to be able to basically pay half my rent every month via HP, and now it's like not even good pocket money. It seems to be a trend that companies get to a certain size and go downhill Fast. This may be the death knell of HP..

Yeah that was an initial hit but I recovered from it back up to my normal earnings. Then 2015 came along and my earnings decreased dramatically as my traffic stayed pretty much the same!

    Same here!
Although I keep on updating my hubs and they are all featured--but the earnings do not increase.
You have rightly pointed out that the traffic is consistent but the earnings have reduced in spite of the increase in the number of hubs that I have published.

Yeah, I tried updating thinking that was the problem, but it didn't do anything. I'm not sure why earnings are decreasing as traffic stays the same, but it's not good!

Google's search engine penalizes hubpages as a content farm, so unless your content is the only one its search engine sees as an answer to the searcher's query or a high volume page that thus stays high in the rankings, yes, your content is penalized. Fewer visits equals less income.

I have the same traffic I've always had, just WAY less money paid for it..

Interesting question so I went and checked my stats - views increased by 8% approx but earnings only increased by 3.6% from 2014 to 2015.

For the first time in years (like over 5 years) I did not make payout..so the answer is a resounding YES.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, in as many years. Hmm I think HP is on its way out, also a resounding YES. Time to bail!
