Do you realize that the mainstream media is lying to you about this election?

Because I'm a librarian & skilled with the Internet, this election has disillusioned me with trusting network news like CNN, MSNBC & even PBS. They obviously have their own agenda & it doesn't really match what is happening out there.
Have you noticed this and are you losing faith in the news?

I can't believe it has taken you this long to realize this. We conservatives have been saying it for years. The main stream media has lost their credibility a long time ago. They have their liberal agenda and it is not healthy for a free society.

Checkout the Drudgereport, it links to all news sources. It is the most extensive listing on news, opinion and breaking news...

Also not healthy is the biased "news" presented by Fox. This is what has given rise to Trump.

The rise of Trump is due to what's been going on in this country for the last 8 years under Obama and the complicit GOP leaders. FOX has nothing to do with it except giving Trump a forum just like all other news outlets...

It is a good thing that the internet is now here and those that wish to know truthful things have the ability to do research right from their home!
I miss libraries, but now we have everything in a library right at our fingertips.
We also have lots of media on TV, not just 'mainstream'. We can watch 50 news channels if we want to.
So, checks and balances are available to all.
What is really odd is how some people will believe whatever FOX news tells them without checking it out! They really aren't the only game in town. Nor is CNN. Get truly informed. You can do it!

I thought it was pretty clear that I rely on ALL of them! If I hear a story on any news channel, and it affects me, I will do research to make sure I get the truth first before believing it. I don't repeat wild accusations, or lies.

I find the international news like The Guardian gives a different angle at times. Al Jazeera America (which has closed) used to give a balanced view also.

Balnced? Or anti American? The Guardian and Al jazera are propaganda sites against American interests. I do check in on them occasionally just to see what they are up to. Buyer beware when it comes to online news media...

I noticed that you didn't mention FOX?
I don't get any of the cable news TV. so they don't lie to me, I can't hear them.

Well, we know that Fox was a propaganda tool for the conservatives and I don't even consider it news. It seems the mainstream media such as MSNBC and CNN is heavily invested in maintaining the status quo which is why they're so biased anti-Bernie.

Who has heard about the latest information released by the IRS under court order? They have admitted that that over 400 conservative organizations were targeted for extra scrutiny...
      A drum roll please...
      The answer is Fox news.

Mainstream media is owned by corporations. They're only ever going to present stories in a way that's beneficial to their corporate overlords.

In this election, mainstream media covers every move of Trump and Clinton, but not Sanders, because he takes no corporate funds, and is against the whole "corporations are people" concept. There is no benefit to covering him, because he's saying things that are against corporate control of the government, and if elected, could put an end to corporate campaign contributions. Neither Trump nor Clinton post that kind of threat, so they are the approved candidates of mainstream, corporate-controlled media.

Exactly how I'm seeing it too. Very sad situation and harmful to having a fair election.

Absolutely and the downward spiral started with the FCC elimination of the fairness doctrine back in 1987.  As a kid, I remember listening to news in the evenings with my grandparents and it was informative and educational (70's to early 80's)  Today, it is unrecognizable and propaganda is fed to us by all major news outlets on all sides.

I have to laugh at the "liberal bias" comment - in what universe? lol.  They are all owned by corporate interests and those corporate interests have infiltrated all "sides" of the government.  Hating liberal and conservative agendas is laughable because anymore, they are largely the same corrupt thing.

If we people would educate ourselves more, stop picking "teams" and band together we would have an uprising that would astonish the world, but it looks like many are content to shout down the other side and choose their "lesser of two evils".  It really is pitiful.

What did you think the TEA party movement was all about? too bad the progressive left did not join in. Why did you think the TEA party was targeted by the IRS and demonized by the press...?

    2. ChristinS profile image39
ChristinSposted 7 years agoin reply to this

the Tea party was largely astro-turfing sorry.  Most of the tea party darlings that did end up getting elected have done even more damage and helped funnel even more money to the special interests.  The intent may have been good, but it was hijacked

Your wrong. TEA party candidates who went to Washington were the one's trying to change the status quo. They were demonized both from the left and the right. look it up...The establishment wanted nothing to do with TEA party...Cut spending and waste.

Sam Brownback in Kansas, craptastic results there, pledged 100k new jobs, got 700 and income growth dropped dramatically. Rick Snyder - another tea party darling and governor of Michigan - Flint crisis no more needs to be said. Tea party is corrupt

Sorry but you are asking for miracles. Under the Obama economy, it was just reported only 38K new jobs created in May. It will take a new Adminstration one that is Conservative to fix all the ills... And it will take time.

I have lost faith in mainstream media news. Reporters are ludicrously ignorant, for one thing, or so obviously slanted as to be ridiculous. What happened after 2003, when the FCC was deregulated to allow a concentration of ownership of media outlets, was predictable: corporations greedy for even more money and power  began more than ever to shape public opinion. This, combined with Citizens United, has placed the US in a dangerous place where a powerful minority is controlling our leaders through money and the mainstream media is passing out the Kool-aid for us to drink. Of course, Bernie, who does not take corporate money, has been discounted by the Press in this election. Thank God for the internet where people can still find informed journalists actually covering the news.  http://www.democracynow.org/

I should add that the first round of FCC deregulation happened in 1996.

The media is not just ignorant. They are actively promoting a liberal progressive agenda and they will use their position to influence the outcome. Remember Candy Crowly at the last Obama Romney debate in 2012?

I'm not sure I agree with you if you're talking about Bernie Sanders. He's on the news every single day. All of the Sunday morning political programs also have him on as well. For the most part all "pundits" or "talking heads" do is weigh in with their opinions and discuss election results and strategy.
Truth be told Sanders has gotten more positive press than Clinton or Trump.
I believe it's voters who get emotionally invested in candidates. They feel the reason why he or she isn't getting votes is because of (the media).
Now I do believe the Clinton campaign is being hypocritical. Back in 2008 when she ran against Obama she did not give up until after the California primary. In fact it was on June 7th that she suspended her campaign.
Trump gets the lion share of media coverage but it's usually over some outrageous comment, tweet, or stance he has taken for the day. Most of his coverage is "negative". I don't see the media attacking Bernie Sanders.
The only speculation is when or if he will concede he won't be the nominee.
Both parties have had instances where people wanted to change the party rules when a candidate they don't want appears to be what voters chose.
The Republicans for instance made Trump sign a pledge not to run as a third party candidate. However once he started winning most of the primaries there was a "Never Trump movement" by some Republicans to get a third party candidate!
Whether someone likes Trump, Clinton, or Sanders each political party gets to have their own  rules for choosing a nominee. The rules were in place when the candidates signed up. The real travesty is most of have been led to believe the voters choose candidates with their votes during primaries.
The reality is a party always has the option to "contest the vote" or push delegates to vote for someone else. I suppose that's great for anyone who isn't out in front but it upsets some other voters.
Bottom line whenever there is an election almost half of the people are going to be unhappy with the results no matter who wins.

Very true except this election cycle is very different. Nothing the media does seems to work one way or another. The people are fed up and they are angry at Washington and they want an outsider even when he is imperfect. The media is going crazy.
