What age were you when you started using HubPages?

For those who don't mind sharing part of their story, I'm curious at what time in your life you started using HubPages.

21 smile I wrote for Helium.com from when I was 17 but it got shut down. I always wish I'd started HP at 17 instead of Helium, but as they say, better late than never.

By "late" I mean I realised 4 years later that Hubpages was the way to go, not Helium. I didn't mean 21 is too late to start writing.

That's about when I did. Congrats to us both for exploring this passion so young!

I sincerely hope HP never shuts down like Helium, as I'm not sure where I'd direct my writing at that point. Maybe I'll start brainstorming backup plans.

I started using Hubpages at seventy-five.  That is seven years ago.  I did it simply for the joy of writing.   Any views or feedback was a bonus.  I didn't do it to make money on the site and I haven't.

As you can see, if you check me out, I've written on a wide range of subjects and have well over 300 posts, though Hubpages - in their rather Draconian way- have taken it upon themselves to not show all of them.   Their reasoning, I expect, is based on the number of views each individual Hub gets.   If they don't get plenty of clicks, then they're not getting much by way of advertising revenue.

I have, of course, saved all of my Hubs as a precaution.  After all, when you're using a site you don't own there is nothing to stop those who do own it 'pulling the plug.'

Nowadays I place the majority of my writing on various Facebook Pages.

Hope this is some assistance, Jeremy.

To get your hubs visible again on your profile page: Click on "Edit Profile."  Go to almost the bottom of that page where it says "Show only Featured Hubs on my profile:"  Click on the 'NO' box and then all of your hubs will be visible again.

I began writing here at age 57. It kinda' was a fluke I discovered it. I was searching fiction writing articles because I have always had the big idea I could write a fiction novel. A dream I still hold today.

At 57 it's about time you met that dream! What's holding you back?

Picked a Best Answer randomly, as everyone's answer helps gauge the writers of HubPages. Thanks for your input, everyone!

actually, I started using it recently. I have always dreamed to be a writer. So, I started from here. On Hubpages you don't just get to follow your dream and write. But, you also get to know new people
with wonderful personalities. I think it is a great website.

I've been on Hubpages for 8 years so I must have been 19 when I joined though I feel like I was younger.

So I've seen a lot of changes and the community has changed quite a bit as well. Hubpages standards are much, much higher than they used to be.

I manage to hit the $50 payout threshold every 6 months or so. I'm not as active as I'd like to be because I'm trying to focus on my regular blog. This is a nice place to post articles that don't fit in my blog's niche.

Thanks for your input! I understand if you don't want to share this information, but is your blog more for financial gain or for fun?

The blog is for financial gain as well as building my own personal brand. I feel personal blogs look more professional than hubpages articles. Also I can put as many affiliate links as I want without penalty.

Like the song goes: "Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing Ever Happens". Being quite bored with immortality, I started using Hubpages several years after I died. I find the racist / patriotic / conservative / element to be quite entertaining. The fact that I am already dead gives me an advantage over those here who will soon be knocking on Heaven's  door.

I started writing on HubPages seven years ago when I was 42. I have been away from it for a while, but have just decided to get back to it again.

Checked out your profile, and trust me, I can relate to having more credits than necessary to graduate. Best of luck with your upcoming literary work!

I started just after my 24th birthday in February. I love writing, and generally I have a massive collection of random stories for either my life experiences, or in the fictional sense. So when I found hubpages, we just clicked. I'm still really new here and working on making more articles, there is nothing else I'd rather do with my free time.

Same, writing is great when we get some downtime. I look forward to your material!
