I'm generally pretty liberal on social issues (much more conservative on financial ones) and vote for Democrats.

So who is responsible for the recent government shutdown that just ended?

    I'll tell you who: Democrats

If Democrats want to be on the losing end of the upcoming elections and lose the 2020 presidential election, they will keep pushing for the rights of illegal immigrants. It's a losing issue.

Even though most Democrats and Republicans agree on DACA (that there should be a way they can stay and earn citizenship), it's not a winning issue. Ultimately, it's arguing that illegal immigrants are more important than legal ones and the many non-immigrants who populate our country (e.g. regular American citizens). IT'S A LOSING ISSUE.

Pushing this issue is a bad strategy and if Democrats keep doing it, they're going to lose big. It's a further example of how badly managed the Democratic Party is.

In actuality, WE THE PEOPLE are responsible for the shutdown because WE keep voting these idiots back in office year after year. But as for this, I believe the Democrats at fault. Schumer said two weeks previous that he was going to shut down the government and that is all he was concerned about.

I believe Schumer didn't care about the government shutdown because he thought doing so would hurt the Republicans. I think he badly miscalculated.

Wow, I completely agree with you.  I think the seed of the idea that Democrats are more for illegal immigrants than  American citizens has been planted.  I believe the Republicans are going to do everything in their power to capitalize on it.

Agree, agree, agree--nothing to add--we, the people, are a problem--ergo--we the people are not thinking about the purple koolaid we are drinking. Clear the swamp, elect a different kind of cockroach.
