For those of you who didn't know...
1. When a Title is not capitalized properly Google doesn't like it. For example, the title
"What is Cellulite? Follow this Exercise Video to Get Rid of it"
is not properly capitalized. I ran it through the "Title Case Converter - A Smart Tool for Capitalizing Headlines and Titles"
http://titlecaseconverter.com/
It gave me this result:
"What Is Cellulite? Follow This Exercise Video to Get Rid of It" note the difference in the 2nd and last word.
2. When title and/or description are too long they get truncated on the search page result.
Bad idea, the title is too long
That's better
You can check title & meta description appearance in Google search results so the information doesn't get cut off with:

Bookmark the 2 links above, and happy checking!
Could you point me to experiments which have tested these points? It would help CTR and I personally make sure my titles are in APA and within the specified pixel limit. But, I've never seen rankings affected solely because of this. I've made all my titles lower case and the ranking didn't change when I was testing.
lobobrandon: what is your opinion on that second link?
I've not tested it, but since Sue posted it and I looked at it just now as well, it seems fine. I personally use http://www.seomofo.com/snippet-optimizer.html
But, Google has recently been allowing longer meta descriptions, especially on pages ranking well. Again, personally I still stick to the old limits as Google does seem to test this kind of stuff out quite a bit and if the results are not satisfactory they switch back to the original. I don't want to be changing all my meta descriptions 2 - 3 times a year. My time could be spent on adding new pages or improving old ones instead.
This thread is about how to "Improve Your Search Results Appearance" not about ranking. I just don't like to see truncated titles for my articles. Whether those affect rankings I don't know.
As for Titles, I go along with what HubPages recommends. On my own website I take more liberty and sometimes use all lower case, especially on images because it often looks better on images i.m.o.
Oops didn't notice the word appearance, sorry about that. Yes CTR does play a small factor, so in the long run, it does affect rankings IMO.

I wanted to share two trends I see in content that are very successful today. The first one is what I call the opposing argument to the search term. Google wants balanced search results. You will often see articles that promote a very positive sentiment, but rarely will you see opposing or...
