After reading a post from another Hubber, I decided to steal her idea and start this forum. The challenge is simple. Write a complete story in five sentences. They can be connected to the last or just a standalone story as long as its five sentences long. Have fun.

    I'll Start
The hawk spun in a circle tracking the mouse. The field mouse stood its ground. The hawk dipped then went for the mouse. The mouse didn’t move an inch. The hawk collided with the stone statue of a field mouse.

I watched through the window as,one by one, the blackbirds on the roof of our shed hopped down to the edge to stare at the ground below. Each stood for only a moment before giving a slight shake of their wings, as if shuddering, only to quickly hop back up to the summit of the roof. Curiosity pulled me into the yard, and the edge of the chicken coop. I quickly found myself mimicking the birds above as I surveyed the gruesome scene within; which showed the last of the chickens, the one my husband had so proudly proclaimed safe at last, beheaded and left to be found. The fox, no doubt, snickering in the bushes as we surveyed his handiwork.

The writer sat in front of a blank screen trying to find the words that couldn’t be seen. Her words once flowed as natural as rain now sit barren, bereft and drained. The blank screen seemed to mock her attempts to find her voice and belittle her helplessness. For a moment she considered turning off the screen and seeing something new away from the missing words and the loss of her voice. The writer contemplated a life away from the words clearing her mind helping her find the words to fill that blank screen and a voice that once was lost could now be seen.

I love these kinds of challenges. Here it is, custom made just for this thread. Street Justice.

The hunt is on and I am the prey unless I can find a way to turn the roles between my pursuer and me.

Two nights ago, I stumbled upon a man beating a woman in an alley and had taken a picture with my cell phone before chasing the man away with the leg of a broken chair I found next to a dumpster.

The photo and my statement had landed the guilty man in jail, but his partner in a prostitution ring had already fired two shots at me as I left my foundry job at midnight after filling a giant ladle with molten metal before I clocked out.

I run back into the foundry and though the man behind me with a gun does not know it yet, I am now the hunter as I climb high and hide in the shadows above the boiling pot.

When he is in the precise spot, I hit him as I had hit so many on the football field in high school and send him head over heels toward the hell he most certainly deserves.
