Turning off ALL questions together

Is there anyway of turning all the questions off without my having to go through every single article I have written to remove them one by one?

It is destrucctive to my articles, because people either ask stupid questions or they make a statement there. The statement is lost because I am now going to have to go and turn them all off. I think these questions are a horrible idea.

    Thank you

Isn't that what the pause function does?

theraggededge has this down right. I've seen other threads that say "oh just do the pause thing" When you "pause" it disables ALL questions from being able to be asked by readers.. You really don't want to do that. You can simply "Hide Q&A" for any particular question you think is stupid or irrelevant. I get some ridiculous ones, but i just "hide q&a" for that question only. The good ones are worth answering because it generates traffic. It's a pretty good thing.

Why don't I want to hide all the ability to answer questions from the readers? If people want to ask questions, they've been perfectly capable of asking them on comments.

As it is, most people are using it to make comments, and that means several things.

          1. Nobody is going down to comments because it is too far to scroll down to. It also means those hubs that have hundreds of comments now no longer have their comments read. I haven't had a comment since this really shitty idea has been run.

          2. By clicking on pause I now dismiss the comments that have already been written, some of which I would have liked to have kept. But better I do this now than dismiss all comments that might still be written in the future.

          3. My type of hubs do not lend themselves to questions. So I just get stupid comments.

          4. I have a brain and an imagination. I don't need hubpages to try to give me ideas of what to write about.

          5. It no more increases my traffic, and will no more increase my traffic than my writing hubs that will be read.

Please do give me an example of how a 'good one' generated more traffic than a good hub would generate. And how does an answer to a question generate more traffic than a hub does?

      Tess, go here: https://hubpages.com/my/hubs/qanda

First press Pause at the top of the page to halt any future questions.

Then go down to Filters. Select Answered. All the previous questions will be there. Go through them one by one and click Hide.

They will be gone from your hubs.

Thank goodness. Paused. Never want to see that particular function again. Absolute disaster. Nobody goes to the comments anymore.

Pause does stop people from asking more questions, but if you want to remove the ones you've already answered there is an easier way than going to each article. Go to your Q&A page and set the filter to "Answered". You'll see all the ones you've answered and you can hide them from there by clicking the "Hide Q&A" button at the bottom of each answer.

      Yes.. It does

Why not just ignore questions you find stupid? Also, if they make statements ignore them. Otherwise, do what Natalie and Eric suggest. I don't see a button to unpublish/hide all answered questions.

Because when people say good statements, it's good to have them at the bottom of the article. But now nobody sees the comments. They just see the questions. I am going to have to devote time to turning all the questions off. Bloody nuisance. But thanks.

I'm not sure people are understanding this. Just hide qa nuisance questions. Why disable it completely by using the pause function?

Haha.. Good example here! Just got this one

HOW MUCH MURIATIC ACID TO ADD TO ADJUST SWIMMING POOL PH
Question:if the muratic acid is 31.45% is that OK for the pool ?? edit
        4 hours ago
Ok so first of all 31.45 is not even a pH reading. It's a bs question. I simply "hide q&a" it will disappear. No need to "pause" all questions. Some are legit and by answering, will bring traffic

        1. lobobrandon profile image88

31.45 is basic dummy. Anything above 7 is basic. It's just basic chemistry. (joking).

          You said "will bring traffic."

So what you're saying here is:

The only thing that brings traffic to a hub is a string of words that people have put into the browser. If, by luck, that particular question has many people asking it, then, yes, that questiion will bring questons to the hub. As I already take a serious look at longtail keywords (questions) when I'm writing the hub, I have already covered all that, and the question (with appropriate heading) is already answered in the hub. So, sorry, this is not going to bring traffic.

That kind of feature only works well for some kind of hubs. It does not work well for the kind of thing that I write. As yet I have not had one intelligent question - well, not the sort that would generate traffic.

It also hides all the comments that people have previously written. So nobody is scrolling down to comments anymore, and the comments sections of hubs where I have more than 100/150 questions are now completely lost.

If people want to ask a question, they can post it on the comments. If I want to write a hub about it, I have a brain, and I can do it in a decent fashion.

Thanks, but no thanks. I think it is a shitty addition to hubpages.

I agree with it being a bad addition and have said this in a thread already. But I have my questions open and I answer people very rarely.

I also agree that the same content in a hub would bring in more traffic than it being a question.

She's said that she wants no more questions and she wants to get rid of the ones she already answered. I don't know why, but that is what Tess asked for and I replied accordingly. Eric, already suggested the exact same thing Bev said. But I guess she doesn't want anything to do with the QnA feature.

To delete all q&a just hide. They might be on the list for a day or two but they will eventually be removed. I've removed several that aren't drawing big traffic. Edit... So if someone doesn't want anything to do with qa then that's what the pause feature is for

        2. TessSchlesinger profile image61
TessSchlesingerposted 5 years agoin reply to this

No, I don't want anything to do with the Q&A feature. I do not for one moment believe it generates anymore traffic than a hub would have done. People have asked me questons in the past.  I answered them on comments. This feature is a complete disaster. The fact that it has worked for a handful of hubs that are probably about practical matters does not mean it will work for the kind of hub I write. Basically, I'll say 'I told you so' when HP disables it in a couple of years and says "It didn't work as well as we expected it to."
