   I think that's why we write basically. If there is no such inspiration of lucrative and prestigious prizes, why would one take the pain to go on and write hubs after hubs? One may argue that it's "comments" and appreciation for which authors on HubPages labor for. But is that really so?
   
   I think Maven would do well to collaborate with the Nobel Prize Committee, Pulitzer Prize Committee, etc. What are your thoughts on this?

      Not all of us are selfish money-grubbing mercenaries who only write for glory and cash.  I write "hubs after hubs" because I like to share my knowledge.  It's nice to earn money at the same time, but I was writing "hubs after hubs" long before I was earning significant income from this site.

               I was referring to a post that I had made earlier. Here is what I had said:

      I think you are putting the cart before the horse as far as who Maven should collaborate with. As for winning, "prizes," I don't like the connotations of that word; I'd prefer to say that every writer is seeking gratification from their writing. For me, personally, the goal is to push myself to write whenever I can and watch the number of articles and views I have go up.
      
      I don't know why, but ever since Facebook came around I've been obsessed with watching numbers that I can control get bigger. Likes, views, impressions, etc. it all feeds into this growing number addiction I have. Although my focuses shifted from social media, because I hate social media and keep all my accounts very small now, I'm still obsessed with things like idle games where the goal is to make numbers grow faster.
      
      Back on point, though, yes I would agree that all writers are out for some form of gratification with their writing. If a writer was not getting gratification in some way, an emotional prize if we must call it that, then they would not be a writer.

            You'd have to dig into me deeper to be the reason I return here, though I will say you have piqued my curiosity. Alas, I'm here because I'm wasting time. First I was waiting for my breakfast to kick in, now I'm waiting for my hair to dry, and then I'll be heading to the gym.
            
            The forums, and HubPages in general is a great time waster.

      Well, I don’t think hubbers here are writing to win prizes, this is surely not the ultimate goal
      A month ago, I was writing 1 or sometimes 2 hubs a day, but now I slowed down my speed. I think maybe when it is a start you try to give your best in every possible way. But the goal is not to win any prize.

      There’s no way that you could know the ultimate aim of all of the authors on HubPages. Some people may write here for the reasons that you state, some may write for the joy of expressing themselves and seeing that someone appreciates their work, some may write because they need or want the money that they earn from HubPages, and some people may write for a combination of these reasons.

   Well, every now and then HubPages were running a competition in a specific category e.g. Halloween, and the winning article would receive a prize. There were also the Hubbie Awards held each year where you could vote for your peers in various categories like Best Hub, Most Prolific Hubber, Most Helpful etc. prizes included mugs, t shirts etc.
   I don’t know if the Hubbie Awards are continuing now Samantha is gone.

   Hubpages is a platform for writers and like any good platform. its primary objective is to give visibility to the writer. Once any writer achieves visibility and gets a sizable following, that is his/her "prize" or "launching ground" for bigger things in life, whether it is winning a noble prize or Pulitzer prize or even writing a bestseller.
   
   I feel the best "prize" for any budding or even experienced writer is to get a loyal set of readers who can help to propagate her/her talent . Once that is achieved everything else automatically falls in place.
