I'd like to try Hubmobbing again, but I can't don't know what the topics are and when they come out. There needs to be easy access to this for all Hubbers--ideally, in our email, for those who want it. In the meantime, is there someplace on the site I can bookmark that will keep me up to date on this?
Hub mobbing is good... but mob hugging is not
Once a week, huh? Where on the forum, please? Cause I can't find it now. Do they take the announcement down by Tuesday or something? Thanks for your answer, but I'm still confused.
It's in the Hubbers Hangout I believe. And, yet, it is hard to find sometimes and you might have to scan for it. You can try doing a search of the forums.
I have looked for the current topic by searching on 'hubmob' and looking at the hub that explains what a hubmob is and what the requirements are. There is always something that says 'current hub topic'. My problem is that at the beginning of this week it specified 'US Health Reform' as the topic, but when I started to go through the process, the topic seemed to change to 'Health'. Today, Thursday, having decided on a topic and believing I was still in the same week, I discoverd the topic is now 'Halloween'.
I agree that there should be something that is easier to find, and that the topics should be posted consistently, with start and stop dates specified. 'This week' is more than a little vague, considering that my week in the US starts something like 17 hours later than someone else's week in Australia.
No they don't take the topic down.
It's like any other forum - it only jumps to the front of the queue (page 1) when somebody posts to it.
The topics don't change mid-week, but all the hubmobs are in the forum so when you search, they will all come up for the search term "hubmob". You have to make sure you are posting to the current week's hubmob. If you look at when the thread was posted though, the number of days ago it was posted will give you an idea of whether it's current.
You need to do a search in the forums, I just search "hubmob".
Yes, it can be frustrating to go look every time I want to post another Hub to the same topic, so I create a new bookmark to the new topic each week (and delete the old one) on my toolbar. That way I can pop back whenever I have another hub to post.
Often the new topic appears here in the wee smalls on Sunday, but unless it's really important to be the first to post, it's not a big deal to wait a while.
They are usually up by sometime Monday morning (here) and they run til the next topic is posted on the following Monday.
They are really good about adding you if you are late posting, but you will also loose out on the free publicity if you wait til the last day to post your hubs.
Also, there will often be a mention at the end of the week's hubmob that will either link directly or at least point you to the next one - not always though.
There's a really good explanation of how it works in the beginning of each new hubmob.
Good luck - you'll enjoy meeting some new people, I'm sure. It's usually a pretty good turn-out.
See you there

Hubpages webmasters should try and initiate a monthly contest on a particular topic, even if it doesn't go with a cash prize but should a prize to encourage hubbers to participate, and the result should be by voting among hubbers and the outside community, how is the idea?

Why is it that THIS page is so buried? http://hubpages.com/topics/tree IMO this should be front and center at the top of the bar, so that folks can search through the topics they want to find rather than by keyword.I'd find it useful as both a hubber and as a visitor.I wouldn't even know how to...
